Hi,

I will be travelling on an AA award ticket with my wife from HNL to Australia.

We have currently put an Hawaiian airlines business class seats on hold but there is a Fiji Airways also available (via Fiji of course) a few days later also in business class.

I don't imagine a Qantas seat is going to become available (they seem very rare on that route) so is Hawaiian or Fiji better in terms of the seats?

Thanks,

Dale.

Agreed - 330 over a 737 any day.
Not a great route for J quality.

Where do I find this out? Even though using AA miles I am searching in Qantas FF for availability as AA doesn't show it online for Fiji Airways.

Qantas gives the flight number when shows availability. It is either 1 June or 6 June from HNL to NAN flight.

Thanks,
Dale.

Hi,

Thanks for that help.

Will ticket the Hawaiian flights then.

I'm just talking to Award Nexus and they will hopefully release Hawaiian searching ability soon so can monitor that as would love a couple more days in Hawaii.

Dale.

I booked at JASA online (when you could) back in March this year for travel in April after I'd received a flight alert from Expert Flyer sayng there was at least 1 "U" class seat (there were 3 released).

The same thing happened again last month (Oct) getting an alert from Expert Flyer re "U" class seats for 01 Dec however we'd already booked an award ticket in whY on HA using Velocity points so stuck with plan A in this instance.

Amazing but true. The FJ 737's have pretty much the same kind of seat as Hawaiian has on their new A330's, pitch is about the same perhaps better on FJ, personal screen is bigger on HA and is AVOD not looping. FJ have fixed up the cabins on the 737's...looks a lot better than QF actually :(

One FJ flight I was on stopped at Christmas Island in Kiribati for fuel, this is scheduled but only there about 45 minutes.

HA just have to remember to load the mobile eftpos machines to charge people for the tablets as they forgot yesterday on my HNL/BNE flight.

If you were in J you probably wouldn't have been affected.

This also meant you couldn't purchase snacks mid-flight either. There was 6 hours between when lunch was served & when you got a sandwich about 2 hours prior to landing.

If you didn't have your own rations you would've been hungry.

Ouch. Still the HA 763's out of BNE. Not good but I think they will be gone within a year, pretty dreadful in J too. The A330's are barely acceptable but as has been commented elsewhere about match the competition. Such a neglected route with something like 30 direct flights a week between AUS and Hawaii in winter and all sub-standard. Plenty of unhappy HNW customers too.
