I've got an interesting quandary....

I've been able to snap up some super cheap fares for myself and my family, that are mainly at the front and in a couple of cases the VERY front of the plane.

Some of the fares are with QF & BA, so I'm more than covered understanding the options and earning potential here, as I'm a WP with QF.

Coming up, the four in our family have the following: RGN-BKK (Y with TG), then a RGN-SIN (J with SQ) and SIN-MEL (A with EK). I have no status with anyone and a few points with KrisFlyer, but not enough to worry about.

What I'm interested in is doing what I'm doing with my QF & BA flights, which is registering everyone, with QFF then doing a family transfer at the end (we don't travel as a family very often). Which *A program would you recommend? I'm most interested in using the points in and around Asia probably (if we even will have enough)?

I just can't let myself just waste the prospect of A class points....

Cheers!

Asiana.

2 years to earn and then 2 years to requalify, 20k miles for *Silver, 40k miles for *Gold, 7 to 10 year miles retention, family transfers available, reasonable burn rate.

Aegean - 20k miles to earn *G and 1 flight every 3 years to maintain it seems.

United. I don't think the OP mentioned a desire to be Star Gold/Silver.

Intra-Asia flights at 12,500 miles. A good deal, I think.

Actually Ben is confusing.

Mentions *A in the same post as BA & QF.

All I was saying was I know that I'm doing with some other legs of the trip that are with QF & BA, and with those I'm maximising a return with family transfers. The actual legs I have mentioned are all with *A.

Cheers!

OK,

"RGN-BKK (Y with TG), then a RGN-SIN (J with SQ)" there's not much distance in it anyhow, so no effective status to be gained.

I'm in the same situation. The family is OW for frequent flyers but we are doing a J RTW trip on a TG, LX & LH flights for half of the trip in Sep 12.
I was going to get everyone on KF to do a BNE-CHC visit for the snow in Jul/Aug 2013. About 25k in Y or 36k point in J return. I was going to use AMEX points to top up.
The trip is BNE-BKK in TG, BKK-xZRH-FCO in LX, LHR-xFRA-MCO in LH. All in business.
I've calculated about 15725 miles should give 19641 points with business (125%) loading on KF.
Using AA & QF across the US and home.
Not too worried about *A status, more just getting the next holiday organised!

Appreciate any advice.

... then a RGN-SIN (J with SQ)

From my memory SQ does not fly to RGN, are you talking about a SQ codeshare (4 digit flight number - likely operated by MI)? Then if that's the case its KF for *A. Otherwise you can credit to DJ Velocity. With only a leg on TG that is considered *A, its much better sticking to KF. Are you planning to take any more *A flights in the future? If that's the case UA M+ might be better for you.
