Quick question for the Qantas Source afficionados......

I'm flying into AKL (from SYD) on QF 43. I need to do a turnaround back to Oz (ultimately CNS but overnight in either SYD/MEL).

It will be a fairly tight connection (QF 43 lands in AKL at 17:10). QF 134 to MEL departs at 18:45, QF 44 to SYD departs at 18:30.

How do I know which return flight to Oz is operated by my same incoming aircraft (aka if my inbound is late - I'd like to be protected by being on the same physical outbound)??

Qantas Source seems to indicate historical differences..??

My other option is the 19:30 NZ departure to MEL.

Could you book on the one pnr in which case you're protected anyway?

No - I'm adding on to (fitting in around) an existing PNR :)

A look at ACARS data shows that QF43 and QF44 are normally operated by the same aircraft.

Granted QF134 is a candidate for the inbound operating QF43 aircraft these days, but I think you'd be pretty safe.

With no carry on you should be able to check-in at the lounge after passing transit security.

Thanks Serfty - correct I will not be requiring any checked baggage :)

Now I just have to decide which flight to take :)

Is this a status run for the double SC promo?

No - although it should be ;) (not that I was offered it - but SWMBO was).

No - SWMBO doesn't like flying - plus - I'm trying to convert her with a well-timed visit to the F lounge ;)

May I ask why on earth you are flying to AKL airport and back then if it's not a SC run???:confused::confused:

Oh - SWMBO is visiting friends in NZ - but hates flying - so I'm keeping her company and visiting the F lounge at the same time :)

Hoping she'll stop picking on me for "you're weird - no one likes flying for the sake of flying"

"happy wife happy life" type of deal. Know that one!

Ok thanks guys, QF 134 to MEL it is, and an opportunity to try out HSW for the first time :)
