I don't think there is anything positive about PEK...except maybe the airport express train!

I'm sure if you post your question in the "SQ Tips, Trips and tales" you'll get some advice on lounges at PEK.

I've only been to the CX one and it was nothing to write home about.

PP gets you into CA F in PEK which is the best on offer - when they see your SQ J BP they might try to send you over to CA J which is also PP lounge in PEK - but stand firm and tell them you are eligible to enter and they will let you in. Mind you once inside you will understand just how underwhelming it is - PP PEK Lounges.

CA in PVG by far best but you cannot access with PP - TBH long time since I accessed a lounge in PVG used Ng PP so can't really shed much light.

i take that midnight SQ flight often, with PP yes you can get into the CA F and J lounges but only if flight departs before 10pm - for that SQ flight the only option is the BGS lounge which is pretty standard but then again not alot else open in PEK at that time anyhow.

What time do the CA Lounges close lomba? The food offerings in CA F are substantially better than other Lounges on PEK but drinks offerings equally as bas no matter which lounge you try.

They are open until the last china air flight but the condition with PP is only until 10pm. last time I was told i could enter before but be forced to leave at 10pm, which was only 15min time, you could take the risk they wouldn't kick you out I guess.

Ended up going to the BGS premier lounge (business side), it was fairly ordinary.

Totally ordinary - CA J section not much better but is better. Did you use WiFi in BGS Lounge? Do you still need to ante up with your BP and Passport Number to access WiFi? So long since I have been in there.

Struggled to get the WiFi to work, had to enter pp number, name and flight number and still did not work. So ended up logging in using my wechat account. At 11pm the airport is totally dead, only a Starbucks and a few other shops were open. Not much to write home about. I am in shanghai in 3 weeks or so, I suspect the experience will be similar.

Does anyone have recent experience with the CX lounge?

I visited it last September. It is better than most regional CX lounges, there is a "noodle bar" and a selection of dim sum. The choice of liquor is standard (gin, bourbon, vodka,...), I didn't look at the wine but I expect it's cough. PEK seems to be saving money on AC...so if it's a warm day there are only a few seats in the lounge which are good (i.e seats directly aligned with the ceiling air vents).
If you've been to CX lounges in MEL, KUL or FRA, I find the PEK lounge is way better.

Thanks very much and thanks straitman for the link. I have a tough decision ahead in the next 36 hours. Keep an award booking with 7 hours to kill in this lounge or let it go and keep looking hoping for something better to open up during the busy NY period. Hmmm....

I used to fly out of PEK on SIA frequently and had the same decision about which lounge to make, I used to favour the BGS lounge as I thought the beer was fractionally colder.

And if it was a domestic flight, sometimes better to stop at the Burger King upstairs before going through security

We used CA F lounge in PEK on Sunday and food offerings surprisingly good - drinks offerings unsurprisingly disgraceful - which reminds me I must include this in feedback to SQ.

The main domestic CA lounges at PEK has always been ridiculously overcrowded whenever I've been in. A real case of being better off in the terminal. There are other smaller lounges hidden away in T3 domestic which, while nothing special, do actually have places you can sit down at.

Personally, I prefer Maan Coffee at PEK. Available both land and air side. ;)
