Which Etihad 777-300ER business seat to expect?

Hi all,

My wife and I are traveling to Frankfurt via AUH next month in J on a VA reward seat booked a long time ago.

Doing some homework, I see that there is the classic 777 J seat on Etihad but also there is mention of their new 777s having the newer style seat, similar to their A380s. Along with the planned retrofitting for some of their older 777s.

Anyone traveled recently MEL-AUH on their 777-300 in J to share whether it was the newer seat or not?

We are going to love it either way but I am keen to know. I booked the flight before the A380 option was available and it was easier to keep the booking as it was.

Regarding my original question, I could have articulated myself a little better. I was actually referring to this article Etihad upgrades Boeing 777 business class to business studio - Australian Business Traveller dated 5th May 2014.

My question was wondering if any of the new Etihad 777s or the retrofitted older 777 aircraft with the business studio seats are used on the MEL-AUH route?

Happy to wait and see but my curiosity was getting the better of me

Hi amagz, the business studio seats are not yet retrofitted in other aircrafts. Currently the seats are just available in our A380 and B787.

I have had the same queries as you for months. Doing extensive digging has led me to believe not a single 777 has even begun the retro fit. It's rather disappointing as the article has been around since 2014. Apparently all new 777 delivered will have the Business studio (which could be the 777X ?)

BTW... does anyone know how many amps a 777-300ER 5W usb port produces?

thank you for that!! and bugger, my ipad mini 2 requires 2.1 amps.

It'll still charge with less than 2.1A, just not as fast.
