Hi,
My wife and I are planning an economy Qantas flight to Jakarta leaving June 8th and returning July 22nd. I have 172000 points my wife 39000.

These are my options - pay the sale fare = $799 return ($1598 for 2 fares)

-classic awards = 100000 points + $856.32 charges/taxes

-any seat award = 198254 points (no charges/taxes)

This sale fare closes tomorrow March 5th.

We are both retired so paying the sale fare and waiting to get better value for our points is an option.

Thank you in advance.

IMHO, that's putting the worth of 113000 QFF points at a value of $740. (Don't forget the minimum 6800 points, say from SYD, that you'd each earn on the $799 fares.)

Even for Classic awards, that's extremely poor value.

Personally, I'd go the revenue fare.

+1 Would not be wasting the points on either of those options if paying the sale fare is acceptable to you.

Re: Which Qantas Award Fare is Best Value ?

Are the points & $ for 1 or 2 people?
Paying for economy and going in the upgrade lottery to business with points is another option (if avaible on that ticket)
I would tend to save the points for some thing else or a bus upgrade

Have you looked at other airlines for paid tickets ?

Have you looked at the ASA using the points plus pay option?
