Why is it Qantas domestic lounges (both club and business) seem to never have any cheese, other than the sliced variety for toasties? Having some cheese (whether than be Camembert, cheddar or any other 'adult' cheese) was one of the safe options in Qantas lounge dining, and paired perfectly with whatever you were drinking. I appreciate the new push for 'comfort food' (which always seems to be mass produced cheap food like chicken wings or spaghetti). I kind of like the old, simpler options better. Is it just me?

You might love the AA and United lounges in the US. This is virtually ALL they have. :) Not sure if the cheese qualifies as any variety we would recognise, though. Seems to have its origins in a rubber tree, somehow.

I've seen cheese in the MEL and ADL QPs. Usually a selection of cheeses, crackers and other antipasto bits.

I've done a lot of travelling in the US in AA lounges. The only food I remember was the celery they put in the Bloody Marys.

I haven't seen anything other than slice cheese in the domestic business lounges for at least a year.

FWIW, cheese is not listed on the current "all day dining" menu in the MEL First lounge (although ask and ye shall receive(.

PER Business Lounge has cheese every afternoon I have been there, gets put out about 4pm.

Nice platter of about 3 cheese's & 3 types of biscuits.

SYD F has been like that too for over a year now. Very palatable blue cheese served today, goes well with the Wolf Blass Gold Label Botrytis Semillon.

Saw people eating cheese and biscuits in Melb J lounge this evening. Not sure on the actual quality though. Looked liked a Brie or similar.

as you point out... 'comfort food' = cheap food. Cheese is expensive.

Most capital city lounges have cheese in the evenings along with gherkins, capsicum, artichokes, olives etc.

I was in the Qantas Club in Sydney domestic in January and when I asked where it had gone was advised that cheese was only available now in the Business lounge.

There's definitely no cheese in either the Sydney or Brisbane Qantas Clubs which I visit frequently. I'm pretty sure Canberra hasn't had it either but I've only been a few times in the last year. Also the last time I was at the Brisbane domestic business lounge there was no cheese.

Haven't seen cheese out in Canberra business lounge this year. However, there's always a plate of the day prior to around 6pm - 'Selection of cheese with accompaniments'. No quince though.
