Im trying to book a garuda flight on GA724 from DPS to PER next monday (16 jan)
It is priced at US$297, but the garuda site states that the name on the card must be part of the travelling party, and the card must be presented during check in, unfortunately our credit card is in my partners name and she wont be travelling with me.

Previously I have avoided this rule by booking via expedia or zuji however this time zuji is charging AUD$413 for the same flight.

I rang garuda and they said I can book over the phone with another persons card, however they charge a $50 fee for this.

Does anyone know a site or travel agent where I can book the flight at the cheaper price?

Flight Centre can book Garuda flights.

I have checked flight centre and harvey travel, both quoting the same fare as zuji which is $100 more than direct from garuda.
Of course at the flight does not originate in australia, noone will price match.

Well then I think your SOL. Given your circumstances you might have to just pay Garuda the extra $50 and move on.

Its only $50.

Only $50, but I make this trip every fortnight so it all adds up.

My circumstances mean I can only take the air asia flight that lands at 0410am or the morning garuda one.

This week there was only a $50 difference between that and the garuda flight, so for the sake of $50 I would rather avoid the red eye, add on the $50 phone booking fee and its up to $100

Why don't you take up Flight Centre's 'Lowest Airfare Guarantee'.
I have used the guarantee in the past when I haven't been able to book direct and had no problems.

Lowest Airfare Guarantee - Flight Centre

Edit: may not work from DPS as I presume price not quoted in AU$.

If you're going over that regularly, why not source a local TA contact you can email and have them issue on your behalf.

It's likely a DPS based TA would have access to that same fare as FC likely can't get it due to it not originating in Australia (old rules that are slowly disappearing one flight sector and airline at a time).

Can't your partner get you a supplementary card on their account??

that way the card used for the booking is in your name.

What about those generic type Mastercards you can buy from Woollies or Australia Post offices where you can specify an amount eg AUD40.00 if you just want to buy something oneoff where you maybe don't want to use your usual credit card. You'd want to make sure the exact cost of the airfare plus taxes so you could purchase the correct amount of credit on the card.

The only thing is that the 'credit card' is not going to have any cardholder name on it as such, however you would have it with you on checkin to present should they ask, however I doubt they will.

I wouldnt be so sure...I booked a TG J flight HKT-BKK via the TG website (was $40 cheaper than through my GDS) and was promptly asked for the card at check-in.

Looks like this will be the way to go cheers.

Was just hoping someone might know of an online site I could book at the same price (possibly indonesian based agent), but as rok said looks like I am SOL

Supplementary card seems like the best solution, especially if you plan on travelling this way a few times.

If the card thing is an issue get a Visa Debit Card or a Debit Mastercard.

As stated by someone else, if you are doing this trip every two weeks I think it would be a great idea to find a reliable travel agent in DPS who can work with you in gaining the best fares on a regular basis. They will like the repeat business and would hopefully look after you well because of it. Once the agent has your card number on file you will never have to present it at check in as the bookings will be done through the agent. I have done this for bookings in Thailand where Thai routinely asks to see your card at check in if the flight is booked through the online web portal.

Okay so TG do, so let's assume that GA do also however, you would be in possession of the card that paid for the tickets via the web portal if it was one of those Australia Post type Mastercards.

I am curious as to whether the airline would have issues with the fact that the 'credit card' used to pay for the tickets doesn't actually have a cardholder name on it as such. That's the $64,000 question!
