Well it seems that Cathay is even more frugal with the distance BKK-KUL than QF is. And even though CX wants 600 point for OW Sapphire (as does QF for renewal), if you are careful in choosing your routings, mile runs can be useful for the QF FFers.

Has anyone worked out where the best point deals for the new Cathay system will be? Certainly not E class in the PEY cabin. And partner accruals for Cathay are almost (but not quite) in the "fairer and simpler" category.

From what I could find, even the most flexible PE fare will be devalued in the new system. The sweet spots are likely to be the lowest fares that previously earned nothing, and J on up.
