Hi,

I would appreciate anyone else's experience with the Advance Seat Selection Feature. I am QC Bronze member and so need to pay $25 for advance seat selection, which after previous experience with my partner and I being allocated seats away from each other at T-24 I am keen to do.

I selected our seats about a month ago now, put my credit card details in and was provided with a confirmation page. However, the promised receipt e-mail never arrived and my card hasn't been charged. The seat selection remains visible on my itinerary on both the QF and BA websites (codeshare flight).

Is this normal, from anyone's experience? Does the charge get processed closer to the time (flight's at the end of April)? Or have I just been very lucky?... Probably too much to hope for I know!

I had this happen last year when I organised flights for my boss, who was also NB. Selected and paid for an exit row, then a couple of days later selected a seat for another flight in the same itinerary. Was never charged for it...

I would suggest you got lucky, a look back at e-mails from last year indicates I was charged immediately and got the e-mail receipt.

How important are the seat allocations to you? There is a chance you have gotten lucky, but what might have happened is the charge has not gone through. What that means for your allocation, I don't know.

If it were a run of the mill economy seat I would leave it to the Gods, but if it was something like 80A on the A380 then I'd be inclined to ring and risk parting with the money.

Thanks blackcat and Must Fly.

The seats are basically just standard economy seats really, for flights to and from Singpore on an A330. In which case I think I'll just leave it to fate. We can live with it if we don't get the seats or otherwise if we end up being charged in the end. Suppose I was just curious as to how the advanced seat selction system worked!
