So like a lot of others members of this group; I fly way to much!!!

sometimes with my Monday morning 4am alarms and trips to the airport or endless nights in hotels; can bring me to the point of asking myself "is it really worth it"??
But luckily the answer to that question is clear on days like today

for the last 12 months I have the position where I live in Melbourne but manage the QLD, NT and WA territory, which of course means that i get to spend a lot of time sitting on planes and building airmiles.
so much so, i have actually accrued 536,000 points in the last 12 months alone. :D

This lead me to start looking at what i could do with all my points.
I could buy around 10 pairs of Bose Headphones (use them like disposables and use a new one every month), I could cash them in for a few 1000 $$ worth of vouchers or i could do something that I am not going to get many other chances to do....

I cashed in 500,000 points in for 2x return tickets to Ireland for myself and my soon to be wife for our wedding in July:p

Now I'm not a poor man by a long way, and my partner makes decent coin as well. but the we are also nowhere near rich enough to have a spare 20K sitting around for 2x return Business class trip to Europe.

Now put yourself in my posiiton of Getting to tell that special woman in your life, that not only are we getting to have our wedding back in the "motherland" with all our friends and family , but we will be getting there in the comfort of Business class the hole way their and the hole way back again.......

I actually am struggaling to put my finger on what was the best benefit of the Points?

Getting the Business seats? or breaking the News that all though nights/trips away had a positive outcome

lets keep the joy going

whats your best points reward?????

Sounds like your points redemption was a good one, congrats on the impending nuptials. Since you make 'decent coin', next time buy the headphones and leave the redemptions available for us plebs. But really, enjoy your wedding.

Oh, my best redemption? Row 5 on the 777, A&C, on my own honeymoon. Enough said. Don't worry everyone, that new fitout is coming soon.

Definitely being able to fly a minimum of J from Aus to Europe & beyond. We transferred some VA miles to Krisflyer then purchased 2 x J seats to Amsterdam a few months ago. It's a long way, so the comfort of J was worth it. Arrived feeling a lot more refreshed than if we were flying Y.

That's the reason we keep accumulating - love to travel and the more comfortable the better IMO! :)

I don't think I have a best thing with points, but over the years I have used them for a dishwasher, home amplifier, kids bikes, BBQ, Kayak, headphones, tablets and many more things. Every year we do a family trip to WA from Syd in J on VA. Recent trip to China was in J x 2 on Singapore. At times I have problems deciding what to do with CC points eg at the moment I have 800,000 Bankwest points to spend which will probably end up on new bikes for the kids at Christmas.

They are all really my best thing as they haven't cost me anything.

Business class tickets (during a points sale) to see my family (inc elderly nanna) one last time before moving overseas.

This sounds like a win-win x kids.

Long haul J is definitely my favourite use for points ;)

Last redemption was MEL-xAUH-DUB,DUB-AUH,AUH-xPER-MEL. Taxes came to under $200 and I got to check out Abu Dhabi, which was a lot more fun than I was expecting it to be!

The problem now is the kids expect to fly J everywhere. On our last trip SYD - MEL in July my 11 year old was extremely disappointed that we were not flying J, and was worried we wouldn't be aloud in the lounge as well.

Kids hey !!!!

This sounds like a win-win x kids.

QFF Lifetime Gold.

(Sorry, just noticed this is a VFF thread for some reason.)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

1st class SQ from SYD and MEL to DXB via SIN, 1st Apartment from SYD to AUH rtn, J Studio on the 787 to AUH ex BNE. All fantastic redemptions!

One way 13800 point business class redemptions with $170 co pay between PER & MEL/SYD ...also earned 80 SC's each time.

I've sacrificed the tiny amount of Virgin points to continue with Qantas. Doubt I'm a virgin in that regard.

2x FASA (ADL-SYD-LHR return) for my wife's 40th b'day present.

Glad that she she decided to bring me along to carry her bags :)

Trip of a lifetime!

FASAs were awesome. I spent so much more time engaging with Qantas and its various buddies when they were available.
