Hmm, slight problem with all the devaluations but have been warehousing points here
Usually transfer them to KF when I need to use them but with the next devaluation of transfer warehousing without loss of value is coming to an end...

What is everyone else doing?

I am in the process of moving flybuys over to velocity then pushing them over to sq for at least one EU redemption (105k Krisflyer)

I only have a 1/3 Velocity pts ~250K...I was going to TF them all over to Krisflyer but I get Krisflyer from direct TF from Amex. I think I will keep mine in Velocity for VA domestic flights as a couple of domestic business flights Syd-Per rtn will use up a significant chunk of my VA pts. With 750K Velocity pts, maybe Tf some to Krisflyer b4 the devaluation but keep some in Velocity for domestic flights?

I used about a million points in the past 8mths and now have less than 300K so leaving them in VA. Im not too fussed over 0.20%.

As is usually the case with these Qs, the answer is 'it depends'.

I can see myself taking 10 domestic flights on VA before even one int with SQ, so I'm going to keep around 4/5 of my points in VA with the rest going to KF (where that one SQ flight would be 5-6x the points for one of the dom VA flights).

I'm planning to clear out most of my Velocity balance before 31 December. I'll keep enough Velocity points for a few AU domestic flights (I often use Velocity points when booking at the last minute) but the rest are all going to KrisFlyer. I will probably use them for J flights between AMS-DXB (25k miles) and CMN-CBR (78k miles).

I’m not quite at your level of points in Velocity but not far behind. Depends what you plan to use them for. I use for international redemptions for which Velocity is woeful, and I don’t redeem for domestic flights, so I’ll be moving all of mine over prior to D-Day (Devaluation Day).

99% of my redemption are not with VA domestic nor international due to lack of J & F to US and Europe. Have done all my redemption with Singapore Air to Europe and this year even to the US. Most likely ill be transferring them all before the cut off date.

On moving VA to SQ, or other ways ... anticipating blanket nos here, but thanks.

a) Just to confirm, I can't move another's VA points to MY Krisflyer?
b) so if no, if VA moved to their own SQ, can they be used from their SQ to book for a different name?
c) Or, can their VA acct be used to book for someone else?

Interesting Matt, again. ;)

a) No, but if planning to move, why not move their points to your Velocity account via Family Transfer before transferring them to your Krisflyer.
b) yes, something about nominated beneficiaries IIRC.
c)Eligible family I presume

a) correct, HOWEVER you can always transfer their VA points to your VA account(family transfer), then transfer all across to your KF account.
b) once moved to their KF, they can book under any name provided you first add the person you want to book for name as a nominee to the account, once you have added the persons same you can then proceed to book a flights for them
c) pretty sure you can book under anyone's name using your own VA points on VA website.

I just moved a little over 1 Million points to KF.

I don't have any concrete plans, but I know that I only tend to make big redemptions for international flights... And VA are just hopeless at international redemptions... Whereas KF are really good... So KF it is!

As I was gifted all my daughter’s points yesterday, at 3am I booked an F to JFK, it feels good. So, I have fewer points this morning.

I’m a little puzzled anout “VA international redemptions are rubbish” posts. Admittedly it was 5 years ago, but I had no problem redeeming 500k velocity points to two J class European returns on Etihad. I have over 300k now and was planning to do the same again. Will it be more difficult, or would I be better transferring these to KF? I love Etihad and SQ equally by the way.
