I am going with my wife and 10 year old son. Any advice on what to see and do is greatly apriciated. We are interested in the night safari and breakfast with the orangatangs,
Also has anyone used the city explorer card?

I saw the thread title and opened to post "My recommendation is breakfast at the zoo and the night safari". But you're already onto it! Definitely worth it, especially for a child of that age.

Hawker market for lunch (maxwell is good but popular also lau pa sat, they're all over the place though)
Gardens by the bay
Marina Bay Sands Observation Deck
Little India for market stall type shopping (also good for a cheap chinese foot massage in the small shopping centres after the stalls
Might be worth looking at Resorts World Sentosa or Universal Studios for the little one to see if it suits

Yeah, agreed....

Resorts world for sure.

They have a cracking Sealife Aquarium there. The main Tank near the end of the attraction is HUGE, with all sorts of large Pelagic species, it's Mesmorising !!!

Also, you can go the the shopping precint there and try on Jewellery and Watches an clothes that cost more than your car or house.

My partner enjoyed trying on over a million dollars in various bracelets and necklaces. She was very happy.....then she had to take them off ;-(

Sunset atop the Marina Bay Sands is a nice spot for an overpriced but worthwhile coughtail.

I'd suggest things that are more uniquely Singaporean ... not shopping.

I would recommend walking about Little India and having lunch there; Clarke Quay for dinner (touristy, but hey .. its fun); from there, walk to the Merlion, around the waterway to Marina Bay Sands observation deck and that entire precinct. And yes, the zoo - one of the better ones around the world.

With the current exchange rate there are now very few bargains in SIN. Electronics are expensive and clothing is right up there as well. Although Little India does have some cheap clothing.

Use the Hop on/off bus to get your bearings and then the MRT is very clean, efficient and cheap.

We go to SIN for the food but there is also lots to see and do.

I am glad Major put in that link to the "Nature " side of Singapore. Because, if you have the time and inclination, there are still some very nice sites of that type to see in Singapore. Some of these, at least, are hidden inside that link

Pulau Ubin - Pulau Ubin, Singapore: how to get there, what to see, do and more take a taxi, or what we usually do, hop on the MRT to Tanah Merah station and then catch a No. 2 bus to Changi Village. (This same bus will drop you at the Changi Museum.) Have some great food in the food market there and then catch a bumboat across to the island and walk or hire a bike and wander about - do watch out for falling coconuts. Afterwards you could have a swim on the sandy beach on the East Coast Park - muddy once you get out a little bit. You also get a good view of the continuous stream of planes arriving at Changi Airport.

Sungei Buloh Wetlands - https://www.nparks.gov.sg/sbwr we went by MRT to Kranji Station and then hopped onto bus No.925 - there are instructions on the site about the bus connections which do change on Sundays etc. The are paths and boardwalks around the site, plenty of birds and large monitor lizards. Also warning signs about crocodiles but we never saw any - of course that doesn't mean they weren't there.

Southern Ridges Walk - Southern Ridges Walk - Wikitravel - as the link says this "is about as far from hardcore hiking as you can get" but as it also says "The trail consists of four parks stretching across the western half of Singapore, with impressive bridges allowing pedestrians to cross busy highways. Several parts of the trail are suspended high above the jungle, offering great views of the often surreal contrast between Singapore's ultra-modern buildings and the primeval greenery around the trail." It is a nice way to get a change from the hustle & bustle in Singapore. We used the Kent Ridge MRT Station to access the start of the trail.

I am sure that you will find lots to do in Singapore.

I really enjoyed Breakfast with the Orangutans. I was also very impressed with how they cared for them, not letting us stress them out and being respectful.

When the night zoo opens, its... well, a zoo (of people) but the tourist bus crowds go down after about 2hrs as they get back on the bus to the city so arrive later, stay later, lots of taxis available.

I highly recommend the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest gardens at Gardens by the Bay, both get very busy but the creativity and quality of gardens is fantastic.

Mustafa's department store in Little India is fantastic for bargains and the chaos inside.

There's a free observation deck in ION shopping centre on Orchard Rd. (it's directly above the MRT station)

The night life from Clarke Quay around to the Fullerton Hotel is fantastic.

MRT is a must, it can take you just about anywhere and it's never a long wait!
