What is the ONE thing that QF could do to get you back in the air more regularly post COVID-19?

At the risk of being preemptive, I was chatting with a colleague earlier today about what life might look like AFTER we get through COVID-19.

I know we are mainly focusing on just getting through the outbreak, and maybe we are optimistic in thinking of QF surviving (could they really close?), but as large corporates and others get used to meeting via video-conferencing we anticipated a very different travel world. So our question to each other became -

Q: What is the ONE thing that QF could do to get you back in the air more regularly post COVID-19?

Interestingly, the answer for BOTH of us was the same - make the LT Platinum target far more reasonable!

Is that just two innately competitive blokes speaking?

What do others think?

I've love your thoughts below, maybe QF will listen!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Ooh yes I agree. If I only needed a few more SC that would encourage me to book Qantas. If I already met their new target (I have over 30,000 lifetime SC already) and was assured of WP status, I would not fly with any other airline. Way to secure my loyalty for ever!
Failing that, some good DSC offers that line up with cheap fares.
Failing that, cheap fares (and good cancellation conditions).
How about Qantas Travel Insurance that covers "cancel for any reason" including pandemics?

Sorry more than just 1 idea here...

- reduce the number of SC required for each tier (temp for one year post this)
- ensure us re: cleaning of the planes - as in a deep clean like none other - and to up the in depth cleaning between flights
- bump people up when flights are emptier (a random lottery) - they could give preference within status tiers
- quarterly (but random and small window) double SC's
- treat their staff fairly now

- bump people up when flights are emptier

They have the paid upgrade offers though, you'll get a situation like I think on United (Happy to be corrected if its not United) where status fliers are in competition with paid up-graders - take a guess who's second in line.

I'd be happy with Double SC, even happier with Triple SC and cheap J fares.

Give me the status credits that I would have received for the bookings that I have already paid for but can not now realise due to cancellations. Given I’ve already invested cash to attain Platinum that I wouldn’t have otherwise spent I would be prepared to pay a percentage of the refunds for this to happen. Win win, Qantas gets money that they wouldn’t otherwise get and I get the status I would have attained if not for the cancellations.

It already exists - its called buy the fully flexible fully refundable fares - the ones that can be refunded even after the event for a no-show.

The problem is the price/premium.
No, I meant the full travel insurance that covers health costs, cancellation of hotels and tours etc, not just refundable airfares. And one that does not exclude pandemics.

I doubt that such a thing would fall into the category of getting you back in the air more regularly post COVID-19 because:
  1. If it is going to be insurance, the premium will reflect the possible cost of claims (plus a profit margin). Covering anything, for any reason (including just not wanting to go, or finding a cheaper deal) will come with a premium that is likely to be so high, you wouldn't pay it
  2. If you are cancelling because you have great insurance that covers all the costs, you are likely to be becoming more irregular :)

More DSC offers
With the "extension of status " it is great however I am looking at LTG
Having said that I will , more than likely , support Qantas regardless post this pandemic .
