So yes, my birthday is in March so I have just received a QFF email -

Your birthday month is finally here, so we've got some special offers to help you stretch out the celebrations. Enjoy and have a happy birthday!

Which then proceeds to offer my a $30 hotel voucher, $25 wine voucher or 10% off the (inflated) prices at the Rewards Store.

Despite the recent general DSC offer, and a personalised one just a couple of months previous what I would REALLY like for my birthday, each year, is a DSC offer. Seriously QF, you can do it JUST on my birthday and I will reward YOU with my bookings for the upcoming year.

Is this an impossible dream?

Am I the only one hoping beyond hope?

The birthday offers are so lame. Imagine if they gave something really juicy like a free upgrade, how good would that be? But you'd run into trouble if you didn't have any flights soon, or you were travelling in a group (would you upgrade everyone?), or how they'd choose the flight to upgrade (SYD-CBR vs PER-LHR).

Yep, I'd be happy with a free upgrade too. They could impose suitable conditions, say domestic sector for general birthdays and international for 'significant' birthdays :)

They have five years to get their act together before I turn 60 and hope for that international upgrade!

with DSC offers on the others?

May be DSC offers on every birthday, but restricting travel dates to only 3 months from the date of birthday and for one booking only - can do domestic only DSC as well ?

Or a nice bottle of red or champers - let the birthday baby choose within 1 month from the date of birthday?

Or choose 5000 QF points - again, choose within 1 month from the date of birthday?

I got this email yesterday - although my birthday is in April so something's gone awry there.

Agree - not the most enticing suite of birthday offers.

I'd be delighted with a birthday DSC offering or (as a lowly silver) an additional lounge pass offer perhaps.

free upgrades... birthday DSC offers? I want a pony too... and a firey redhead to celebrate with (not the pony :p )

c'mon folks. The voucher is a nice token and gets us to spend (or tries to) with them. win/win for QF which is the whole idea.

And with the 10% off at the store - there are some really good deals there at times. Also not being sarcastic at all.

I’m a march baby too and received the birthday offers. And oddly one of mine is DSC valid for bookings made by 9th March for flights to 30th June 2020.

That said Qantas ain’t silly these offers are not out of the goodness of their heart, they are there only to encourage you to book something where they make money!

In 2018, travelled alone on my birthday Cathay BNE/HK, was greeted at BNE with: hello Mrs T happy birthday we’ve upgraded you to business. Not much time for a sleep on the night flight but wasn’t complaining.

Well if true, you are a lucky. Time for you to book something you regretted not booking last time.

If true? Why would I fib? Here is a screen shot.

As for me I don’t need to chase status (I am LTG and have no need nor desire to get to platinum) so I am not tempted by DSC offers. As I said above Qantas don’t offer these things out of the kindness of their hearts they offer them to get you to buy needlessly or to influence your buying to their advantage.

I think you are confusing double frequent flyer points for Double status credits

Happy birthday to all us March people. I doubt I'll make use of any of the 'gifts'. I shouldn't punctuate that, it seems ungrateful, but for me they have no value. Possibly for some they do. I still have one of the two platinum $50 hotel vouchers. Finally used one for our October trip to Kangaroo Island. I was going to make two bookings and use both vouchers but just couldn't be bothered. Then was going to use one for our Canberra November weekender but bought a LE instead. If they're transferable I might be putting out the free to a good home offer but better check with the boss first to see if he wants to book another long weekend anywhere.

I think you are right!
See I glossed right over it because I’m not going to book or buy something because Qantas (or some other company) is encouraging me to do so through silly birthday offers.
