What happens to your bag when you use arrivals lounges??

Quick question, as the thread title suggests.... What happens to your bag when you utilise the facilities of an Arrivals lounge???

Does it just go round and round on the carousel ???

Most arrivals lounges are past immigration / customs, so it isn't a problem. If you're talking about using an airside lounge (eg using Qantas Club), then scenarios include : your bag could go around and around, end up in lost baggage, you get called and asked why you didn't collect it, someone else could take it.

What airports even have arrivals lounges? The only ones I can think of are the BA and AA lounges at LHR and the CX lounge at HKG, all three of which are land side.

I was thinking more of using a Qantas Lounge on arrivals on a domestic flight....

Was going to pop into the Brisbane lounge tomorrow and was just curious as to where my bag might end up if I just left it for 20 mins or so...

In that case, this comment from Mal applies:

There are a couple of resident "experts" at Qantas Club / Virgin Lounge arrivals access with baggage. One should provide specific QF information soon (From memory, baggage services call and you can collect later)

I did exactly that at SYD last week.
Spent about 40 minutes in the lounge, then picked up my bag from the baggage service counter.

After 20 minutes, your bag might have just got to the luggage belt...

I think I've had one instance where I came out of the lounge to find my bag was the last one going round the belt. Usually, not a lot has happened by the time I get there...

Hand luggage is a corporate social control mechanism designed to suppress PDS (peacock display syndrome). Even in travel mode, the demands of PDS must be satisfied. The range of clothing required to meet PDS obligations exceeds the weight and size constraint of carry-on luggage. If your luggage is not brandishing a HEAVY tag, you are merely a pawn of your organisation, you are probably mirror-shy, you are unlikely to be gravitated towards the fashion mags in the lounge (either gender), and you probably think Boy George is a jockey. Travel is merely an extension of the grooming and deportment discourse; expressed with diversity, flair and non-conformism.

I only check-in a bag because it has smelly work-boots and heavy textbooks in it! No way I'm going to carry that around between airports!

In a few occasions I have used domestic lounges as arrival lounge, I collected my bags and re-entered airside with the luggage. In one occasion I actually told the screening guys I was going to the lounge. This way I can actually relax in the lounge rather than worrying about my bags...

I have never had any problem clearing domestic security with multiple or large luggage.

Yes, they are available for, WP's / J.
They are also available if you are a SG / QP member and ask really really nicely. (YMMV on that last one )

Well in the unlikely scenario where the above applies but one's suitcase remains within the weight restriction for carry on, The official guideline, as stated in the DYKWIA handbook, is to display one's 'Q Bag Tag' with your appropriate status visible (or a bag tag showing higher status if it was acquired on eBay or retained from a previously achieved high status), on said carry on luggage.

Attach two tags if ego permits.

I didn't think it was a J benefit, but a status benefit.
