Hi,

I am currently a paid Qantas Club member and bought 2 years of membership.

What happens to my paid membership if I become OneWorld Gold and hence entitled to lounge access? Does your paid period go on hold / get deferred?

That is if don't requalify and lose Gold status will I then get the rest of my paid period or is the paid period just wasted?

Thanks,
Dale.

It's all good news. Your Qantas Club membership is 'suspended' until you lose status and then picks up from where you left off. For example if you had 18 months QC left and reach Qantas Gold (OneWorld Sapphire) then should you ever lose status then you'll have 18 months of QC to fall back on.

Which oneworld gold? I think only Qantas gold would have your QC membership put on hold.

Yes I meant Qantas Gold which in turn gives you OneWorld status. Bad phrasing on my part, sorry.

Dale.

I assumed qantas as well. But always useful to clarify for the benefit of others reading the thread later.

WRT this topic, I noticed another recent thread which seemed to say that if you have unused 'on-hold' QP membership, when you dropped to Silver you would receive the unused balance, plus the three months gratis QP membership that seems to be granted when you drop to Silver. So if I had say 22 months unused QP membership, then when I dropped to Silver I would actually receive 25 months QP membership?

Note that unless you remember how many months you have left, if you forget, there's no way to check until you drop from Gold. ;)

I still have around 12 months of Qantas Club left, however at my current rate of flying i doubt i will ever get to use it as i will be LTG!

You sound like a classic example of someone who could/should have had BA lounge access as a significant intended use and hence eligible to refund your QC membership when it was removed.

Might not make SG this year, had about 2 years left on Q Club does it happen automatically or have to call them to enact it?.

Hitting LTG triggers eligibility for a refund regardless on a pro-rata basis.

What happens to my LT QP membership when I hit LTG (still 3-4 years away!)? Pro rate refund? If so, will be interesting to see how QF calculate that (IIRC, I paid abot $2300 about 10+ years ago)

Well, there's an unknown in the equation there. You shouldn't worry - after a while the value of the unknown will become a fixed point and they will then calculate, solving for the other variables. and yes, it will be an automatic process. No action required on your part. It's all good.

Where does it show you remaining months of paid Qantas club membership?

As luck has tithe double status offer arrived so now after recent flights very soon will be WP, still have no idea how much of my 4 year Qantas club membership was left (think 2 years), be about 2.5 years from now to recommence it, but by then probably not :).

I just found where the number of remaining months of paid membership is listed. No I didn't get an extra three months.

Yes. I'd like to know this too. Partner has been gold or Platinum almost forever but he did pay for membership at some stage. Currently he's 90% LTG. So we have no idea how much paid membership is left.
