Without doubt the worse meal I've ever been served on a plane. It went back pretty much as it was served - absolutely vile!

Some nice views on approach. E/W runway makes for a nice change.

Let's see if I can purge that last meal out of my memory....

Nice enough flight. The Jetconnect flight crew are always nice and very service orientated. The food presentation was a little rough, but it was tasty.

We landed in WLG just before midnight and after a day of indulgence:) I knew a taxi was going to be required. This meant we would need to get a taxi back to airport the next day to collect a hire car for our drive to Wharekauhau.

We stayed at the IC Wellington - nice room and excellent location.

Due to a combination of a long travel day and over indulgence - the only photos I took of the IC was the hallo_O and the view.

We had a booking that included breakfast, but we had other plans and decided to sleep in.

After 20mins of sightseeing - it was time to eat!

Passed this lovely on the way...

We last visited Wellington in the early 90's and had a great meal at a place called Boulcott Street Bistro.

26 years later - it's still trading. Great memories, the restaurant is still going strong and a must when in Wellington.

So after an excellent brunch we checked out of the IC and took a taxi back to WLG to collect the hire car.

The drive to Wharekauhau is spectacular with a crossing of the Rimutaka range - it's around 1hr 45 min drive. The first photo shows some traffic issues caused by repairs to a land slip .... a section of the road just disappeared.

Of course the other way to get to Wharekauhau is a 10min chopper ride... maybe next time.

On arrival we were met at the car door, told to leave the keys and luggage in the car, and offered drinks:) .... we were then given a tour of the property - glass in hand:D

No bothering with parking the car, luggage, paperwork, passports, or credit cards - this is how a check-in should be done!

After receiving a top up of a sensational local SB - we were shown to our cottage.
