Hi all,

Anyone know what the heck VFF is doing after the review date of status? Aren't SCs and sectors the only things to check, and that's already done?

It's particularly frustrating this year, I'm hoping they'll manage to get a new card sent to me before embarking on a long trip!

Cheers,

Danny

As far as I can tell, nothing really. They just seem to have a single timeline that accounts for various possibilities.

It's the standard message that comes up each time when you hit your review date. Doesn't seem to make any difference how early in your membership year you managed to requalify, the review assessment process seems to takes the same length of time, which is usually up to two weeks, and it's sometimes taken up to 4 weeks - and occasionally longer - after our review dates to receive the new card (mail seems even slower to get to Perth these days, since the introduction of "priority"/"non-priority" postal services).

With a review date of the 18th and having easily re-qualified some months beforehand I was waiting with hope for my review to complete and a new card to arrive in the mail before I embarked on the 9th of the next month to the USA.

Alas, not to be - my status changed from review to WP two days before departure but the new card did not arrive until after I had left.

In two Delta Sky clubs I was informed my card had expired - they saw the date and not the word "review", assuming it was an expiry date.

So I had to explain the fine print "Valid for one month after review date" on the back.

I both cases I was advised something like "it was a 'silly' system", to which I readily agreed.

Silly is probably the word!

Seems like there might be some manual processing with it taking this long, surprised they haven't automated to get some cost savings...

Totally silly system. And one that's caught me out at least once, as my trip extended well beyond the "one month beyond review date"

Vert frustrated with how slow they are at the moment. I'm currently on 598 SC's & waiting for the points & SC's for some domestic flights from Saturday last week still to credit yet I'm still sitting on silver. I have some flights coming up this Friday & Sunday, I sure hope my status has been reviewed & adjusted before then.

Extremely unlikely IMHO.

That's going to happen to me too. Hoping Delta is OK with an electronic card on my phone... A helpful forumite did mention that VFF might be able to supply a letter that would help, but I don't have enough flights planned to bother trying to arrange it.

Cheers,

Danny

Danny, that may have been me with the letter suggestion (I used before when based in the US for a year). However, I wouldn't worry as the DL and VA systems are linked pretty well now. All they need is your VA FF number and it automatically picks up your status (it's a good idea to make sure this is linked to all bookings, for Sky Priority, baggage etc as well).

If they ask for your card it is for your number on it, not for the due date. Computer will say whether you're still valid or not.

This has been my experience as well.

Most of the time the SkyClub agents simply put the Velicity number in without really looking at anything else.

At least I have a card without the inbuilt debit facility, a facet that can make things more confusing.

And yet, conversely - husband is delighted with the delay, as he will drop to SG for a year, technically effective as of the 17/8/17. We got the notification that his activity was being assessed, but as we have used the last 12 months to basically fly on points, we have not accumulated enough points or SC. It's been a fun year and we aren't too fussed about being Gold, as there are plenty of flights this year to look forward to and he'll be back to WP before he knows it.

I have had this offered to me in the past also. Good luck. I don't envy you.

Some, (not all) delta lounge receptionists are fire breathing dragons.

I suggest calling and requesting a manual adjustment. They did this for me earlier this year so I could use the SG benefits the next day after qualifying the previous day. YMMV but worth a shot
