VIVA Macau has chosen Melbourne as its second destination as it moves to bolster services to Australia.

The low-cost, long-haul carrier will began flying its two-class Boeing 767-300ERs to Melbourne airport twice weekly from December 9. It launched the service yesterday with $339 one-way economy and $639 one-way business class fares from Macau.

I'm wondering if it is safe to fly Viva Macau. Their aircraft is pretty old. Where are they being serviced?

Well a 767-300ER is going to be no older than the ones Qantas flies.:shock:

Cant help with service location, but (totally guessing) HKG, Philippines or USA.

Website isnt much help "Currently down for maintenance"

Has anyone actually flown Viva Macau?
I'd be interested to know what their "Premium" offering is?
The website shows nothing.
A dim sim and green tea or better? Maybe a sandwich? Is it worth it?
Thanks

Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Co (GAMECO) provide VIVA Macau with Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services.

Under the terms of the partnership, GAMECO provides VIVA Macau with a Total Care Maintenance Fleet Technical Management program and an Inventory Technical Management program to provide spare parts for the VIVA Macau Boeing 767 wide-body fleet.

dear oh dear.....

I've taken 3 flights with them; the last was in November 2008 and would not hesitate to fly with them again at the right price.

I think their market is Australian born Chinese.

For pax going to the pearl delta area, it is still a better option than Air Asia X because it is direct and their Y seat pitch is actually quite good ! Much better than Air Asia X....

On the down side they have
1. the habit of never giving a refund,
2. Cancelling flights and move pax to other flights on short notice
3. They are much smaller, with questionable capital backing... and the risk of them going bust is high......

any photos available?

I remember airliners.net has couple of their cabin photos,
the 767-200ER is ex-aeromexico, and surprisingly they left the cabin un-touched....

The last time I flew in a 762 was an ANA craft, in very OLD Livery. Not a nice experience.
Does the pricing stated include Aus-Macau-Aus flights?

Cheers Dee

I beleive they are backed by 3 or 4 Macau Casino operators, who could buy and sell packer, etc 3 or 4 times over.

Remember they are the only legal casino's in that part of the world and Casino's need people, and how better to get punters directly to them but run an airline.
