Does anyone have recent experience of obtaining a visa for Turkey? I have heard that the situation is in flux for US citizens at the moment so was wondering if it has become tricky for other nationalities too.

Firstly, I have a 6hr transit in IST en route form SIN to TBS (Tblisi in Georgia). I plan to have HLO and do not intend to leave the airport. I think for this I don't require a Turkish visa.

But from Tblisi I shall be travelling with a group (mainly Americans) through Georgia and into the Tao Klar-jeti region of northern Turkey for approx. 6 days, and then returning to Georgia. From Georgia I'll be going on to France via Athens. I shall need a Turkish visa for the Turkish segment of the trip, but am not clear where I should apply for this or how far ahead of my travel.

I have both UK/EU and Australian passports and would usually use the UK one for travelling within Europe. Which would be the better one to present for the Turkish visa? The Australian one because that's my country of permanent residence? Or the UK/EU one because that will be my onward destination?

The US participants in this tour have been instructed to "watch this space" on a US embassy website, but information there won't apply to me. The tour is not until June so I have time to work this out, but could do with some help here.

Oh, thank you. That's easy then. I just wish there were some way to see the cost before embarking on the apply proess. Much of the info. elsewhere on line is evidently outdated.

I did the e-visa a fortnight ago. Paid USD60 and visa was emailed instantly. A colleague forgot to but was still able to purchase a visa at the gate after some argy bargy. Costed him USD70. Go figure.

I got the eVisa using my Australian passport on a couple of months ago - but it is much cheaper (I think 20USD??) if you have a UK passport, so I would use that one.

Good pick up. But that USD40 may cost you a seat in Parliament...

Good to know. Happy to lock myself out of the madhouse that is Parliament.
