VA appears to be quite close to sealing the deal on the SQ-funded takeover of XR..

  • [-]Securities Industry Council of Singapore approval[/-] December 2012
  • [-]Australian Competition and Consumer Commission approval[/-] January 2013
  • [-]Skywest Airlines Ltd Shareholder approval[/-] March 2013
  • [-]Foreign Investment Review Board approval[/-] March 2013
  • [-]High Court of Singapore approval[/-] March 2013
  • "Certain conditions..."
The expected effective date is April 11.

This photo from Mark Lynam on Perth Airport Spotters! I like it!

I doubt they will do a cabin refit, and I kind of hope they don't, the Fk100s have 34" pitch throughout!

I predict T2 & T3 confusion for customers... IMO they should wait until the new terminal pier is finished for integration, so that they can all be on the same side of the airport.

This is very true, but I think the significance of having the entire FIFO & charter operations under the VA brand holds more weight. The other can be remedied with ultra frequent shuttle services between the terminals, prevalent signage & good communication regarding which terminal from the time of booking.

I don't doubt the "visual" importance to them either. A sea of Virgin's as far as the eye can stretch across the tarmac, will undoubtedly place them, to be seen, as the most prominent carrier in Perth.

Considering there are more VA intl flights per day ex PER now than QF, they essentially have more AC at T1, T2 & T3 than QF have at T4, so I agree it will be a good look for them
