Virgin complimentary business upgrade

Called up velocity to try and use my 4 upgrades for myself and my partner for a trip to cairns but was told I only have 2 available to use. This is despite having never used the benefit before.

Naturally I asked why I don't have my full allotment of 4 and I was told that due to my platinum membership being extended for 8 months I was only credited with 2 upgrades

Pro-rata, you could argue your closer to 3 than 2.
3 being at 9months.

I just checked my partners account who was also only given an 8 month extension. Kind of surprised to see she was allocated the full 4 upgrades just recently. I remember early in the year she was not given any on the last extension but she made a phone call and they gave her the 4.

Yeah i was pretty surprised. They have escalated the matter to be investigated by the relevant team. In the mean time at least they allowed me to use 4 upgrades for the trip I wanted to book today as they might not still be available in 3-5 business days when they are finished investigating

I have just placed a request for upgrade to biz from a flex fare on virgin Mel - Bali .10900 velocity / sector . I am currently red but will apply for discovery gold . What are my chances of being granted an upgrade ? Is success related to status ?

At this point on the bali flight basically none. Flights are basically so full that most upgrade aren't even processed.

Yes it is but see above.

I haven't used my complimentary upgrades yet. Each time I've looked, the business fare was cheaper than the full flex fare!
