Virgin [checkin] moving to LAX T2 [May 2017 - Flight to depart TBIT]

.... though it also means that Virgin Australia’s business class travellers and top-tier frequent flyers will no longer enjoy access to the highly-regarded
Star Alliance business class(pictured) and first class lounges
at TBIT.

Is that the sound of WPs and SGs falling out of their chairs I hear?

If you'd been to T2 recently you'd be lamenting the loss of a decent terminal far more than the lounge. T2 is a coughhole. They're starting refurbishment of it now, but it's going to take 7 years!

I'd be surprised if they actually move May next year.

Going by other LAWA based renovation/construction projects (TBIT lounges, T4/TBIT connector) I'd be thinking some month in 2018! :p

This probably means I'm moving airline alliances. I reach Plat in 3 months and then accumulate useless SC (partner Gold not really required as she makes Gold anyway). That lounge at Tom Bradley is simply divine after the rubbish that was the Alaska lounge. I < love > the showers and the outdoor deck. To lose that, means I really re-think everything. Do I fly Air NZ and credit points to Kris, or accumulate with Air NZ? Seriously, Virgin Australia just doesn't do it for me any more.

Yep, sadly it is!

Will have to enjoy the FCL to the max in August on my way home.... anyone know how early it's possible to check in?

Disappointing news for someone who enjoyed that lounge, though on last visit it wasnt quite as good as it had been previously.

Well they do say the new Sky Club will have an outdoor deck and hopefully showers but I just dont think it will be as nice as the SA J lounge (I dont like the SA F lounge).

I think its 3pm checkin by memory.

I like the TBIT terminal, even the overpriced massage at SpaXpress is nice before walking onto the plane.

Thank you - I wasn't expecting it to be open quite so early; allows for quite a lot of FLounge time ahead of the 22:35 departure :)

Joking aside, I'm essentially going to be killing time on the day I head back to SYD, so although 3pm check-in would be a tad too early for me, it's good to know that some fairly extensive lounge time is an option for late afternoon onwards ;)

Will have to remember to post it on the "I'm in the VA lounge" thread closer to the time.....

Opps, its 3:30pm, not 3pm

Is there a first class equivalent lounge plats can use?

I wonder if this an early sign of further relationship between NZ/VA ending? the only reason VA probably got access to the A* Lounge is NZ used to part own VA, and runs the LAX *A Lounge.

The NZ/VA Tasman Agreement is up for renewal in 2018, by then NZ will have an reasonable sized A321NEO fleet on the Tasman and might not need VA.

The Star Alliance FCL is nice but the showers (which are on the J side) are absolutely hopeless. Looks nice but the water pressure was literally non-existent! One of the worst showers I've experienced in an airline lounge...

AirNZ need the feeder onto the Australia domestic routes. It's not just about the "point to point" flight.

The terminal move is more because of it's partnership and code-sharing with Delta on AUS > USA.
