Had a boys weekend away in Perth so I decided to grab a few pics of my DJ Business class experience to share with the forum. Decided that I needed to go via Melbourne so I could have the A330 for the same price as direct flights.

Fri 7 Dec ADL-PER

Started off by spending a few hours in the Adelaide lounge which saw me have a few beers after a stinking hot day here.

Had Annalisa looking after me up front on this leg. Just 1/8 in J. Busted aircon on the ground so the jet was quite warm.

Was a 1710 departure so a snack service, Annalisa asked me if I’d like both options so I did.

Had a chat with Annalisa & Craig on this flight. Turned out that Annalisa was acting as the CS after the original had gone down with heat stress in Adelaide before departure. Was very impressed Annalise stepped up to the plate as it stopped the flight being cancelled. Also she did a really good job so I’ve sent Virgin feedback on her performance.

Experienced my first go-around after 26 years of flying, we were probably about 5 secs from touch down and well into the flare when she spooled up and around we went. Turns out the wind had shifted to a tail wind late in approach and it exceeded maximums at the last second.

Go to gate, used the bathroom then it was straight onto the next leg as it was already boarding.

Greeted by Michael the CS and asked to turn left in Business as boarding was through door 2.

Had a few glasses of Lanson before departure. Settled in for the next four hours to enjoy myself. Was well looked after by Anna on this flight. Load was 11/24 in J.

Roast Lamb with red cabbage & roast pumpkin (was really looking forward to the pork belly & cracking but something must have gone wrong with the catering for this leg)

Desert (not sure what is was, it wasn’t the list item on the menu) Was also offered the cheese platter in addition to the desert.

Had an excellent flight, plenty of food & drink, which is what I love to do when travelling! Also had a ‘VIP’ on board Nicki Minaj and her entourage (who the couple sitting in front of her informed me they were quite rude to the crew).

Anyway had a great weekend of boozing & eating!

Had a great weekend, but time to head back home!

Mon 10 Dec PER-ADL

Mate had to work so he dropped me off at the airport three hours before I left. No dramas had a coffee & bite to eat till the bar opened at 11.

Welcomed aboard by Michael again and directed to 2A. Decided I wanted to try row two to see what the space was like compared to the front. My opinion is I prefer the first row. Don't get me wrong any of the seats on the new bird are cracking, it’s just I’m 6ft1 and when I had the chair reclined I had to move my feet in a way that they didn’t hit the top of the foot recess in the seat in front. Must be my big hoofers! Did enjoy the increased IFE size though.

Was looked after by Lauren this leg. She made sure I never went thirsty for sure!

Anyway thats the end of my small trip report and another snapshot to the DJ B737/A330 experience in J.

Thanks for the report. I'm flying J for the first time on DJ697 MEL-PER on boxing day, so great to know what the food will be like! I've chosen 1A - looks like it was a good choice, as there appears to be much more legroom than row 2 (I'm 6'9"). Currently 10/24 seats allocated. Have chosen 1A on the return flight on New Years Day also. Hopefully I get one of the new birds on at least one leg.

As always Jazza, a great TR. Plenty of booze. We would get along pretty well I reckon.

Nice read. Must say some of that Luke Mangan food looks a lot nicer than what I've been dished up off late!

Thanks for going to the trouble of so thoroughly documenting the trip. I was impressed with much of the food and more than once thought 'gee, that looks better than QF'.

Did the meals, especially the breakfast topped with shiny fried egg and Peking duck, come with their own dose of Lipitor -- washed down with a JB??!! ;)

I must admit that the photos were great. The food looked really good on the A330 leg but apparently the short haul J are having variety problems
