I love how a few hours later JQ also offers the exact same sale fares to Bali....how original.

The Virgin offer is more comprehensive.

- It offers non-stop Bali departures from ADL and BNE (J* doesn't)
- Fares from ADL are much lower on DJ than J* because J* routes passengers in almost the opposite direction - vial MEL and/or SYD!

Dates are also more restrictive with J*.. really cough sale in comparison with DJ actually.

Not bad... $151 return including taxes from Perth for a weekend in October.

it's not the best season. rainfall starts to increase a lot once u get into sept

still, for the price i'd be tempted to pop over for a week of reading, seafood and masage

Good point on the weather... I wouldn't be a fan of flying DJ or JQ for that amount of time though.... Although the options are pretty slim!!

I booked a SYD-CHC for $50 each way today... $100 for flight + $123 for fees + $10 credit card...

Is it a decent fare?

I was a bit bored here in Sydney so hopefully this trip in a few weeks will be interesting... Can anyone recommend things to do in Christchurch for a weekend?

If you are into theatre the Court at the Arts Centre has two theatres, Court and Forge. Prices are much less than Sydney. You can book online.

Gods of Warm Beer is playing at Court for next few weeks, 1950's general strike, rugby vs league, Catholic vs Protestant, all the things that mattered in a small South Island town. Saw it last week, good intro to the NZ of 50 years ago.

The Forge has The Early Early Late Show with the Court Jesters 30 April - 9 May. Improv comedy. Haven't seen this show but have seen their late night show, lots of laughs.

The Christchurch Art Gallery is the best art gallery in NZ (IMHO) and is free.

If its fine weather sitting back in a punt floating down the river while a fit young person does all the hard work is very relaxing.

Virgin Blue - Specials

BNE-ZQN 25 Jun 10 - 12 Sep 10 $249 AUD*
Sale Ends:
11 Mar 2010

e.g: Fri 16 July BNE-ZQN, Fri 6 Aug ZQN-BNE = $456.13 inc taxes ... A little bit cheaper than the nearly thousand that samh004 paid on another carrier.

True, but I doubt I’d get any SC’s or points with QFF if I flew on DJ. Unfortunately, more flights to Queenstown isn’t a good thing, with their 4 immigration counters… it’s going to be hell!

I had a cheaper option of flying via AKL with an overnight at the time, and then ANZ South to ZQN and my dad even suggested JQ to CHC for much less… but I’d rather qualify with QF than spread it around ;)
