I just attempted to buy a $750 AUD Virgin Australia voucher online and was sent an email saying that a standard security check required me to send a copy of my credit card and a form of id to a fax number (for giftvouchers.com). I rang and cancelled the transaction as I found this odd....and for myself who is time poor, quite irritating. This coupled with the $16.50 processing fee is just a tad excessive. Anyone else had this problem? Qantas doesn't do this ...

Looks like my practice manager will get something else for xmas.

Sounds a bit random. Perhaps if you had followed through the smiley people from the Virgin Money call centre may have contacted you :p
Not likely to sell many vouchers with that kind of set up :td:

Giftvouchers.com seems totally inept and useless. Where is the disclaimer (before you proceed to payment) that there is a $15 fee? Plus of course the "email delivery fee".

Links back to Virgin Australia don't work.

Sorry, avoid them like the plague, don't buy from them and let Virgin Australia know why.

I hate rewarding incompetence - ditto for paying a "processing fee" to buy a gift card. If an organisation can't provide me with a fee free way to purchase a gift card from them, they don't deserve my business.

BTW - The "verification" process for online purchases does occur at other vendors. It indicates to me that giftvouchers.com cannot implement correct security procedures themselves and suffer huge fraud issues as a result. It's not against Visa/MC policies as far as I'm aware, but likewise I would cancel the order and tell them why.

Bit the bullet this morning and re-ordered a voucher. Call me a sucker! (My outback surgery is just closer to Adelaide and Virgin have direct deals to bali etc from there vs qantas)...so my practice manager will be happier.

Received the same message to call customer service (or they will call me)

On hold.....forever it seems. (well 13 minutes)

I pre-empted them and faxed through the details they requested. They said it wasnt good enough, couldn't see the credit card properly. Can I refax it "lighter"

Oh the drama!

I wonder how they store or dispose of the faxed copy of the credit card.

Seems like a mob to be avoided to me.

Well, I stumbled upon virgin vouchers today and almost tried to but one. Glad I didn't now. But any experience using these vouchers, do they let you avoid the credit card fee when making a booking? By the sounds of it, the fee when buying the voucher more than outweighs any potential CC fee, but thought I'd get a positive confirmation.

I noticed today that payment by gift voucher is now an option when booking online, is this new? I'd hope that if no credit card is involved there'll be no fees. And speaking of avoiding CC fees (and straying off topic sorry), the POLi payment method now has a link showing which banks are supported - if one's bank is not listed, are CC refunds possible in a similar vein to those for mac users?

If the voucher is less than the airfare then the difference has to be paid with credit card, just wondering if that triggers a CC fee.

Yes, unfortunately it does. :(
