Long story short, I just missed my Velocity review date and was 30 SC short...Without realising.. (Not happy Jan)
I used to fly exclusively Virgin for years and was platinum, and then gold once I started balancing it with QF, I guess I was enjoying the change for a while. I do have Air New Zealand Gold, however the only Virgin benefit it grants domestically is lounge access, whereas Virgin America Gold gives most of the big Velocity Benefits which I like to use.
Has anyone tried their Status Challenge? I see it takes 12,000 status points to maintain gold after the 90 day challenge however I can't figure out how many VA domestic flights that would be...

Wondering whether is a great shortcut back to Velocity benefits or if I just struggle without status for a while to get it back...:oops:

An interesting question and not something I'd ever thought about. As far as I can tell though, 12,000 VX status points would be quite difficult to earn flying VA. According to the page linked below, you only earn 20% of actual flown miles for discount Y or 40% for full Y with VA. So, you'd have to fly 60,000 miles in discount Y or around 20,000 in J, all within 90 days.

Seems hardly worthwhile to me, or am I missing something?

I interpreted that as 'Redeemable Points' however you may be correct that its the status points...

I'll admit that I am not 100% sure, but I don't see any other reference to status point earn on VA on their website. I'm not sure what else they would use to calculate status points... I assume the chart refers to both.
