Anyone flown on this flight that can tell me what it is they send on the coughet run, a domestic configured 737 either 700 or 800? Or is there one specially fitted out for the International run? Have a week in Perth later on in the year and am considering the hop across to coughet and extending it for a stay at my fav resort the Metadee in Kata Beach.

It's the domestic 737 bascially!

I couldn't think of anything worse than sitting in a domestic config 737 for 6 hours ++ (I have done it before and NEVER again)

I'd look at Thai but not sure what their A330's are like on this route

I often observe the passengers arrive at BNE INT after the DPS/BNE flight on the 738..
They appear; not to be the most comforted types over the past 6.5 flying hours..
Personally, never done it, never will, if more desirable alternatives are available.

The 330's are infinitely better than the 737's on a route of this length, even in J

should have said I was looking at J class, so its only a domestically configured aircraft, hmmmmm what other options do I have ex Perth direct to coughet then, just Thai?

I would assume the TG option to HKT would be via BKK?
But surely a better J option, in any case.

Yeah, it is domestic J, not great for a flight of that length.
I know TG used to have a handful of direct flights to HKT but you'd have to go looking for them

I've flown the HKT-PER sector which is operated by a B737-800 not the B737-700, and ironically my connecting domestic flight to MEL was on the first inbound service of the brand new A332 aircraft (VH-XFD)...

Other options (with 1 stop) are SQ/MI (via SIN) or MH (via KUL).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Meh it's fine in J if you can get a couple if hours sleep. Did it in march and doing again in June.

While not the same route, I did DPS-MEL which has a similar flight time in J on a 738 and I thought it was OK. It was a night flight and once I got onboard and had a bite to eat I managed to get at least a couple of hours sleep. I was in Y on the way over (in row 3), and with a blocked seat between my brother and I that was bearable but I wouldn't be rushing to do it again.

I did PER-SIN-HKT on Jetstar in 2011. A320's so no J class of any sort, but booking exit rows on both legs and sleeping on the red-eye PER-SIN isn't too bad. Sat next to Bruce Buchanan and his then partner Elizabeth (now wife) on SIN-HKT. None of the Jetstar Asia crew recognised their boss!! I did even before I sat down next to them.

Luggage is checked all the way through so all you need to do is waste a few hours in Singapore which is easy and pleasant enough to do.:)

In economy? Would you fly it again?

I have done 4-5 hour flights on 737's previously and the flight is a little long but luckily I can sleep so that helps pass the time.

Yes, but I did end up with an empty seat next to me on the EMEX row and in any case I've short legs (you've seen me!)...

I believe the flight is capped for pax due to the distance, so you will usually get an empty seat beside you if you ask or seat yourself strategically. Makes a huge difference in Y.

It certainly used to be capped but now with the use of BSI config aircraft they can be full. School holiday time is a bad time to be on these flights.

Atleast the domestic configuration does have Business Class, the 9 International configured aircarft for the tasman/pacific don't

Did 4hrs to Aussie from NZ today on a refitted Pac Blue a/c with the new Y seats, horrendously uncomfortable for more than 2hrs!! Couldn't imagine 6hrs

Are they the brand new Y seats (like in the fully refitted mainline 737s) or the recovered ones?
