Flight to CBR yesterday was on VH-VBY, repainted 737-700. No problems at all - business class not offered on this flight and not sold either.

I chose 2A, which had just immense leg room - no way I could touch the bulkhead with my legs.

Only odd thing is that row 2 was the only row that misses out on Live2Air. Row 1 had Live2Air displays mounted on the bulkhead - probably wouldn't work for row 2 as the standard Live2Air screens would be too small.

Given VA is retaining this plane, I wonder what their IFE plans are...

Isn't this because they've removed 1 ABC? As the long term plan is to get rid of LTA I'm not sure there is any long term issue.

That would make sense - there was just a bulkhead there. Seems a bit odd to only have 3 seats on the plane without Live2Air.

Didn't notice what they'd put in front of the bulkhead - what was the reason for removing 1ABC?

I really don't know. I'd guess the aircraft update got interrupted due to the qantas grounding. But I'd probably be wrong.

I think it will be one of the last to leave but it's going given she is 7 years old.
Curious, I wonder why they would they repaint it then? I thought VBY was one of the 2 that was owned by VA and hence being retained (quoting from another contributor on AFF)?

I believe DJ want to keep the fleet age down, the leased birds are easier to get rid of in that context, while repainting is not as expensive as reconfig. With the backflip on J and the events of November last year I suspect she went from viable to not worth it in terms of completing the job.
