Just a head up for anyone else doing shopping regularly on eBay while earning 2 points / $ like me . Just done the shop for today and notice a message from Velocity saying that from 1st SEP 2017 earn rate will reduce to 1 points / $ ( same as Qantas ) .

Since i am an ANZ Rewards Card Holder , i will click through ANZ Reward Portal from 1st September to earn 3 points ( 1.5 / 1.725 with 15% transfer bonus ) / $

This makes me sad....

Thank you for the heads up about the ANZ portal - will also do ebay through there moving forward :)

Dammit I have been missing out on valuable Velocity points all this time. :(

It really add up , my recent purchase an ipad and macbook for a family member net me 5000 velocity points from Apple Store online by using order and pick up in store on top of normal CC earn rate .

the other FF online malls are only paying about 1 FF pt per $ spend so its always been on the cards. It was good while it lasted.

Nightelves, you can earn Velocity FF points by logging into your Velocity account, and it tracks you all the way to paying with Paypal.
By you typing in and then logging into your Velocity FF account, it (the system) knows you have made purchases, and you do get an email saying you having Velocity FF points coming your way after purchase is complete.
So long as you don't have any interruptions, and don't press the back button, it tracks you via cookies or something like that.
You do need to keep the string going, ie, make sure you have what you want written down, or know it in mind, and then while inside Ebay after logging in via Velocity FF, do a search and then purchase what you want.

Darn ... I spend 50-100K a year on ebay so earned a lot of points.

A couple of years back it was FOUR points per dollar ..... those were the Glory Days!

Had I not read it here would not have realised the goalposts were moving - thanks for the heads up.

My own rough math on a $1000 buy is the 3000 or so points I get via ebay/Amex is a $60 saving each buy. With the near constant ebay 10-20% instant discounts (paid for by ebay not merchants) it really saves money.

Amazed how many folks i know use ebay a lot and are unaware of points earns.

Last day of 2 points per dollar!

there is also 10% off site wide with code: PEARLER valid today only (min spend $75)

Excludes: Bullion (178078), Services (316), Cars, Bikes, Boats (9800), Tickets, Travel (11,730), Other Lots More Items (88433) and Gift Cards (172,009)

And if you pay with a VGW, the earning also will reduce from 01Oct, when you buy with Ebay.
I don't know to cry or laugh or to say, what the ****...
Looks like FB is the only group that is throwing points at us, everyone else seems to be reducing points earnings.

What shame. I was earning a great deal of points through this.

Good while it lasted. :D

Noticed ebay have cut back a lot in recent weeks on the near permanent 10% off sales too.

I just thought I'd let people know that there is going to be a sitewide 18% off of ebay tonight.

6pm to 10pm aest

Using code PARTY18

Maybe not as good as two points per dollar but it's still pretty good.

My experience of these schemes (both Qantas Online Mall + Velocity eStore) are that they are complete and utter BS scams worthy of a segment on The Checkout. I have just received the e-mail from Velocity telling me my perfectly valid and by-the-book purchases from Supercheap Auto have been rejected because their BS cookie tracking software system didn't capture them and no further correspondence will be entered into as their decision is final.

Both schemes make fantastic claims about being able to theoretically claim points on purchases, which in reality are completely decided on their whim as to whether they want to give them to you or not. It's a complete scam not worth chasing at all. I've had the same response from Qantas too, only over there the incompetancy level hits never before seen heights.

Over in Qantas land, they will claim and counterclaim all sorts of nonsense that's incredibly easy to discredit as patently false using their own points earning evidence just to Delay, Deny & Defend giving away any points unnecessarily. Dealing with Qantas customer service to claim retro-points activity is like trying to claim on an insurance policy. I wouldn't be at all surprised in fact if Qantas CS is staffed with former insurance company claims department employees. The D-D-D policy they employ is exactly the same. By their enthusiasm to deny claims you'd think QFF points were made of gold!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
