Velocity/Qf platinum status match

I’m QF platinum and was recently approached by VA corporate rep with an offer to match status, so new velocity platinum card just arrived. I figure I have about 6 months as I can’t see myself being able to maintain both, with the amount of flying I do just barely scraping in for QF platinum last year.

So.... any advice?

Not sure how much you know about the VA / Velocity program? One main difference is family pooling so if you can fit in a family trip you may be able to achieve most of the 800SC required to maintain status. I have found in previous years that flying with Hawaiian and island hoping is an easy way to rack up so SC, the flights are short and cheap and if booked as a full fare with the international ticket they cost next to nothing. I have no direct experience but I have read Delta flights in the US are great for status as well.

Congrats on getting WP status match. I have managed WR and gifted gold the past 2 years with Virgin - I would be keen to look at qantas but without a status match I cant go from WP benefits to no status.

Thanks for reply and tip. I am really very ignorant about VA but will find out more. I wonder whether Qantas has a similar status match? Otherwise they might end up losing a lot of frequent flyers...

I can confirm Delta flights are great for racking up status. I flew 3 domestic flights earlier this year and paid about $100 to upgrade to Delta Comfort+. It's worth it for the service alone, but it also tripled the amount of status credits I earned (105 rather than 35)

Great for Lindab sure, but not so great for all of us loyal VA WPs earning our status one Elevate flight at a time. Do you really need yet more people in the priority boarding queue VA? Aaaaah, ok maybe I shouldn't be whinging. I did after all rock up to the Boston United Lounge with a status-matched Avianca card that confused the lounge angels. "what airline is this? Never seen this one before" Me: "I believe it's South American, don't know much about them actually." Angels: "...wtf?"
