HI All,

Can someone suggest best and economical way to do status run as I need around 630SC by May 2019 to maintain platinum status
If I can do status run during current double status credit (promotion) would be easy to achieve it or if you have better ideas please share
would appreciate your help

NZ Double Status Promo will net you around 320SC for about $900-$950 return in Business Saver on the current sale. So essentially $1800-$2000 for two trips and you have netted the amount.

Delta in the USA and to/from USA to Asia is probably the best offer currently but only makes sense if your in the States.

CHC seems to be the cheapest, on the directs only from MEL/SYD/BNE. Travel is Feb/Mar next year.

This means you’ve achieved 170SC. I wouldn’t say this is a status credit run at all, it’s really thinking of ways to maintain which may not give you any value in actually doing.

Why don’t you just allow your membership to drop to Gold at renewal?

Gold won’t cost you a thing and you will still get lounge access until May 2020. Whilst you are still Platinum you can still book and select Economy X seats free of charge for flights for any flight available on sale and can use your platinum complimentary upgrades in the same manner.

Im doing one of these runs to get to platinum. However in my case it's travel for a legitimate reason (wedding in bali) Ive just paid the extra for business class and included a stopover each way to earn more credits.

A status run is if you're close to maintaining / going up a tier. Sounds like you just need to do some flying.

Each to their own but if you are so far from Platinum you’re probably not doing a lot of flying? Are you going to get the benefit one WP? Use your money to bid to upgrade or pay for J fares woul be a better option if it were me.

Here's a novel idea - BUY the Biz class fares to Bali.

Will likely cost a ton less in $$, than flying all these places you apparently have no real wish to be doing.

And you get lounge access automatically then.
