Okay so starting to fly Virgin again because of the ability to transfer points to SQ and of course use them on EY

I am sick and tired of the high taxes and lack of FF seats on QF

Using MEL-AUH-LHR as an example flying EY in J for 2 Adults

Using Velocity to book - 250,000 FF points plus $200ish
Using EY Guest Miles - 289,732 miles plus $150ish

So it's cheaper to book using Velocity for exactly the same flight ?

Confused as Membership Rewards airline partner alternatives to Qantas has different figures

Needing to know this before I possibly transfer any Amex points to EY Guest for the 20%ish bonus

yes it is correct that VA is cheaper for same flight
but with EY you can use points plus cash and they only charge 1cpp for 25% off the points so actually very cheap way to buy points and with the 25% bonus its a no brainer.
also if u are elite no change fees using EY.( VA is $60 I believe) and you can book online so don't have to worry about the VA call centre though they aren't at all bad.

Thanks - Forgot about the ability to buy points at 1cpp for up to 25% of the redemption.

Annoyed I didn't transfer some Amex points now :(

Just regarding booking online with points through Velocity on EY operated flights. I just tried to do this and it is saying that EY flights are temporarily unavailable for online booking. I called the Velocity centre and of course they advised the $60 fee for phone bookings, I advised them of the online non-availability and she said "oh okay then, we'll waive the fee". Of course today is Saturday and I got the Manila call centre so wasn't suprised they didn't know about the online issue.

But kudos that they waived the fee without question!!!
