Velocity Double Status Credits offer 1/2/19 [Book by Feb 12, Travel by Dec 28, 2019]

All the editor's suggestions appear to involve flights which commence at southern capitals.

Look north young man.

All of the domestic options provided are also possible in reverse, e.g. Cairns-Brisbane-Sydney and back.

However, the reason that most of the suggested runs start in the south-east of the country is because that's where the cheapest flights are!

Just a quick follow up - I was trying to work out whether my booking was going to be eligible - and it wasn't.

Velocity originally advised as it was a codeshare - no DSC.

I rang up the call centre, paid some money (they were great) and swapped out SYD-LAX (return) onto VA metal.

Then Velocity advised that I'd missed the booking date.. so again, no DSC. SIGH.

Rang back into the call centre, cancelled the whole booking, rebooted, paid a bit extra and now on a new PNR.

Then Velocity advised this only worked for existing Silver/Gold/Platinum (wait, what?) - spent some time discussing this and they agreed that you didn't need status to qualify and this was an error on their internal docs. Their website and the email I've gotten makes no mention of needing existing status.

So at this point I've been advised on new booking, on the VA metal parts, DSC will apply. Given the fare is in Elevate, that changes a few things as 4 x 40SC x 2 (320 SC) should now become 640SC - more than enough for wife to re-qualify for Gold this year.

Now I just need to figure out something for myself to book onto (time to go back and read the whole thread again to see if anyone has great suggestions :)

So to sum up:

- You have to activate the offer first (for each person travelling)
- You have to book between 1st and 12th Feb
- You have to book with the Velocity numbers AT the time of booking (they apparently cannot be added later and be valid for DSC)
- You have to fly in 2019 (between 1st Feb and early Dec from memory)
- You have to be on VA marketed AND operated flights (i.e VA metal, codeshare doesn't work)

Did anyone else get an email today encouraging you to activate the offer, even though you thought you already had done so?

Yup

Did anyone get an activation confirmation of any sort btw? I didn't!

For those that have done the famous RAR runs, what is there to do in the Cook Islands, or is this a turn around in the airport and take the same plane back option?

I've flown to RAR with Virgin, although I didn't attempt a same-day turnaround.

There is lots of interesting stuff to do in the Cook Islands for a few days - relax on the beach, go snorkelling or hiking, do a lagoon cruise, see a cultural show, etc. It's a really relaxed place with friendly people and good seafood.

I wouldn't attempt a same-day turnaround. I don't think the airport is really set up to make this possible, but even so, it's worth spending one or two nights there.

Looks like they have matched the QF domestic Sale, but not advertised.

No, I didn't - only received the email today and this is the first notification I've had from Velocity about the DSC promotion (rather slack on their part, seeing as the promo has been running since 1st Feb) - I only knew about it because of this thread and also seeing it on OzBargain.

I’ve given them a couple of bookings which will help me maintain Gold. Love family pooling and DSC together.

QF has matched VA's Happy Hour fares but also not advertised as it was for a few hours only...

What to do what to do.,
Have to earn 55 status to keep my gold by feb 24
Prices have gone up so it will cost me $500 townsille to syd elevate to earn the required
Unless i can get the double status credits allocated by the 24/2 or backdated to allow me to retain gold

I rang Velocity the gentleman thought as the t&cs say up to four weeks to be allocated he did not think i could count on them he seemed not 100% sure though. Anyone else have any thoughts or knowledge..would they backdate them to the date flown hence keeping my gold but by flying on a cheaper flight?
