Hi guys,

I've recently racked up lots of SCs with Etihad, but only managed to fly VA twice in the last 12 months. (In March & April 2019)
Last month, I was upgraded to Silver, even though i have enough SC to get gold.

To qualify for gold, do I need to do 2 more eligible sectors before March & April 2019 (when I did my two sectors) or I need to do them before my review date (December 2019)?

Also, I've recently relocated to KL for work, so flying with VA isn't as easy as it used to be. Does anyone know an easy and economical way to do my sectors from KL?

Only way to truly do it, would be to come back to Aust, and do that 2 sectors (flying VAd), that way, but of course, very $$$ way to get VFF SG.
((**SQ would carry a VA flight number, SIN - Aust, but its not a "true" VA flight service, only a code share, not sure if sectors earnt can be acumulated flying SQ with a VA flight number, ...
That might count for sectors earnt, ie, flying SQ with a VA flight number, ie, to fly SQ back to Aust, on SQ but I would leave it for the more experienced to put in their "bit".**))
There are no other carriers that carry that VA flight number, except SQ.
VA have a rolling SC calculator, so the earlier you can meet the 4 sectors, the better.
Cheapest, would be to fly D7, when you have some time, then fly VAd that 2 sectors.
D7 Air Asia is not a FF partner of VA, but its the cheapest, ie, to fly to OOL, of course, you could fly KUL to PER/MEL as well, which ever is your home state, but guess PER would be the closest, and cheapest with D7.

The previous post is confusing. 🤔

As a specific answer to your question, to qualify¹ SG you need 4 sectors and 500 SC in any 365 day period².

So you need to credit two more eligible segments before 365 days have passed since you flew your first eligible segment in March.

For example, if you flew segment #1 on March 12th 2019 then you need to fly segment #4 before March 11 2020 (being a leap year²). This presumes you earned 500+ SC's since (and incuding) that March 2019 date.

¹This is to qualify "up" a level, not re-qualification at a level.
²T&C's state 365 days, there is no reference to leap year - better to be safe than sorry.

I was thinking to do D7 or TR from KL too, but looking at VA flights from SYD-SIN-KUL flights are a lot more expensive than flying with SQ or MH.. I guess it'd be better to do domestic flights!

Thanks for the answer! that's what I wanted to know :)

Position to DPS and fly to PHE and back on VA's weekly turnaround flight on Saturdays?
it's weird that they have DPS-PHE but not DPS-PER... :s
