Hi all, It doesn't seem like I am going to get QF award seats on this route so am going to have to be self funded. Can I get your opinions, pro's and con's etc on these two airlines in J class. VA's 777 and QF's 747.
Thanks for your help

I think VA J is fantastic. Never been in QF J but Ive been reading (on a thread somewhere) that the 747 is looking very tired.

Got a quote yesterday for same flight (next April) Qantas have a J sale on For $6098 normally circa $10k Finishes today! Not sure about VA pricing as too far in bed with OW these days. I would suspect VA would have newer/nicer planes (previously used them when they offered BNE-HKT route & the planes were awesome with the onboard bar) but the 747's are ok. Cheers CM

My flights are not till Sep so can wait until sales come back around. The nicer/newer planes would be nice as would the bar. Does anyone have comments on this bar setup, is it similar to the EK one?

It was 2010 last time I flew one of these so not sure how much if at all they have changed but the floor space would have been approx half the size of the EK A380 bar maybe a tad less. Still a good place to mingle and get out of your seat for a while.

VA is usually cheaper and has a better product. The only downside for BNE is the schedule isn't consistent.

The other alternate would be AA out of SYD - it's the same seat as VA for the most part.
