Thanks for posting the promo. :D

Does anyone know from experience is one has an existing ticket for 2019 and calls in to change a sector, and hence has that ticket legally re-issued if the computer sees it then as a new booking?

PNR does not change I realise that, but I suppose it shows in computer that ticket was "issued" this week etc?.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

No you need a new PNR that was created from 12.01am this morning after registering for the promo.

Modifications excluded.

Plus there is a 30% off sale covering the first half of next year too!

Which makes quite the interesting case study for a spend based FF program:
Let's say your normal route's airfare is $200 - as a red FF flyer you would normally get 1000pts per flight
But during this promotion, for each sale flight you now pay the lower $140, and you get 1400pts per flight

Same flight scenario, but as a WP, the flight would normally nett 2000pts @$200, during this promotion it only goes up to 2100pts per flight @$140

You could debate Qantas' current double Status Credits offer is much better value, even without the airfare being discounted.

These offers are usually better suited to HKG/LA fares, most certainly if travelling in PE/J.

Does anyone know if I can use a ten percent off VA coupon code and still get double points?

Yes as long as you register for the point bonus you can use whatever code you have.

I'm just concerned because TandCs of double points say that it's not redeemable with any other offer or promotion

I have booked a dozen flights under Triple points from Easter, and the other months double points, all under promo codes, the points have all credited.

Good enough for me! *books*

Did I read that right? Book before the 22nd Oct 2018?

What a laughably short promotion period. Probably took them longer and will cost more to design and implement the offer than any potential bump in bookings.

How about they try to improve their product or improve their frequent flyer scheme in a discernible or permanent fashion, that would actually get people booking.

Offers like this are the corporate equivalent of rummaging under the couch cushions for spare change.

Short term KPIs ticked off for the annual performance review, someone else can worry about if the company is profitable or not....

Isn't a week about normal?

I am not sure, how widely have they advertised this offer? Who are they trying to target? Are they trying to bring forward some discretionary spend to get cash in the door for VA or is this just a 'look at me" response from Velocity to a possible competitor offer or just limited market research on price/status or loyalty demand elasticity?

Besides a few canny posters on this forum and maybe Ozbargain who will double and triple Stack discount codes on low yield but higher SC earn routes and who can book flights at the drop of a hat and plan to be free a year from now? Exactly the sort of customers that the yield managers in an unprofitable airline would not want taking up seats! :)

High yield are still going to book a few days before flying and don't care so much about price and would pay no attention to points earn. They want a good product at a competitive price, comprehensive network and frequency of flights to change their buying habits.

Seems to be a lot of unproductive marketing resources for a marginal gain to me, when they should be assigning resources on things like say making a profit.....or doing something better than their competitor for a long term market advantage, like maybe having a website that is usable or not embarrassing. o_O:rolleyes:

Unless you cross a status threshold (or loyalty bonus threshold) that you would not have earned otherwise, a double SC promotion is worth nothing at all...

A bonus FF promotion is a bonus for all customers, no matter your status level or where you are in your qualifying year.

Well this has come in handy after cashing in on the last Points promo. Just changed 4 flights from QF to VA to get the extra points and will also get me enough status points to requalify for gold before my anniversary date.

Pretty interesting promo, sad it's a bit short/last minute.

Anyone have any good finds or suggestions?? Would be looking to travel anywhere in Australia from Melbourne.

Mainly want this to get points and sectors.

Typical, just booked J rtn to HKG with VA a couple of days before this offer came out.

My understanding is there is a $300 cancellation fee. Just got more annoying because the price has dropped by $200 since I purchased the ticket. Dipped out everywhere.
