How hard is it for VA to roll over your review period, do they do it manually? When I look at the app it lets me know that I have in the past 12 months:

SCs - 1439 of 800 needed
Eligible Sectors - 35 of 8 flight

Why do they need up to an extra month.

Why does it matter?

Your WP card is good for another month in any case.

With the exception of the four UpgradeMe WP vouchers, I cannot recall anything else you will not receive during the fourteen day review period...

Thanks for the reply, most helpful. I am aware the card will work, I have been VA WP for a number of years, and in any case my AMEX Charge card would get me in.

It is the upgrade vouchers I am after as year-on-year these go to waste, however I have a Y (flex or whatever VA call it) that I can request an upgrade for and can see that business rewards seats are still available for later this week.

I am sure it is not hard, but they seem to have one timeline to cope with all the various combinations of things that can happen. Just how they designed their process for some reason..

Have you tried calling as I have been advised in the past that in 'special' circumstances VA may manually release a WP upgrade once you have entered your review period.

I had not tried calling but will give this a go. I am a QF and OW type of traveller along with SQ but regularly use VA for the points earn rate which I transfer to SQ. Not up to speed on all the VA perks.

Thanks for the heads up.

The good news is the most one of these upgrade credits can be worth domestically is 9900 Velocity points (14900 on a few short haul international).

I'm currently a week and half into my review period and am heading to the USA just before the long weekend.

Similarly to last year I expect to have to educate one or more Delta employees on how the review dates work - all they see is the date on the front of the card and assume its an expiry date. Most of these conversations end with me getting access to the lounge with all of us agreeing it is a stupid system.

Call up, last year I used one in the review period with no issues.
Actually, a minor issue at the VA end as they never ended up deducting the upgrade from my balance, so I ended up using 5 - but let’s keep quiet about that. Good luck...

Conversely, the renewal system the 'opposition' uses could leave you without a valid membership card at all for a few weeks if you have not requalified (or you are being comped) about six weeks from the date of expiry.

I ran into this problem last year when it took QF more than three months to send my new LTG card when dropping down from WP...

I suspect this affects relatively few whereas the Velocity system affects all members.

But is no real effect from this 'issue'.... except to those who need to get everything now for no particular reason.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I wouldn't state "no particular reason"- I like seamless and having lounge agents try to deny me entry because it is after the date on the front of the card is a PITA.

I'd agree, but wouldn't showing the lounge agent your online boarding pass overcome this conundrum. e.g I just moved from VA Gold to Platinum and don't have my new Platinum details yet and when I wanted to enter the lounge with 2 guests, I showed them my boarding pass whereas if I showed my gold card it would have involved a full explanation. Not identical scenarios, but similar enough.

I have always been asked for my card. I guess the BP would help sans card - I may try it.

In other news, in somewhat of a record, my 'review' period has cleared in just 11 days. I wonder if the new card will arrive before I depart for the USA on Friday next.
