V Australia, the new international long-haul airline of Australia launched recently by Virgin Blue, has selected a suite of Rockwell Collins avionics for seven firm and six option Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Deliveries are scheduled to start in September 2008.

Surprising, given that QF's experience with Rockwell Collins has not been good.

Not really. As I've posted here in the past Rockwell Collins are very aware of the limitations of the QF system and have unhappily provided what QF wanted. This being the case they know what is needed to make the system function correctly and no doubt will do so.

Avionics and IFE are quite different things, and from all accounts Rockwell Collins do the Avionics well.
