Hi,
I (and the better half) have a trip planned for Europe in June, and to get around there would seem to be some good options to use QFF points for flights within the EU but they are obviously with BA.
Was just wondering if anyone has any recent experience using QFF points for BA flights. Is BA that bad now that I should steer clear of them? What would happen if we miss a connection due to a delay of the first flight?

Currently looking at LHR - EDI, MAN - PRG (via LHR), ZRH - BRU (via LHR) and BRU - MAN (via LHR)
Most will be in Business where there is a business seat available, some will be Economy.
The number of points is not an issue but the charges seem relatively cheap with buying a full flight with another airline which makes it attractive (and even cheaper than train). I did a couple of similar flights with BA over 15 years ago and was happy with them, but I think they are a very different airline now.

Any advice appreciated.
Cheers

They're fine, though BA domestic/euro J is nothing like J on QF (and in some ways you're better off booking Y and picking an exit row seat if you have status), but they'll get you from A to B.

Have a good look at the aircraft options between MAD and LHR. Both BA and IB operate some flights with widebodies which have signicantly better seats, albeit for a 2-2.5 hour flight.

If the journeys are ticketed on a single ticket, you will be protected in the event of delays. So the ZRH-LHR-BRU is all covered for example if on one ticket.

It would seem an awful lot extra flying to do the flights you have mentioned when direct services exist, only cost a few £, and seating in economy is the same as business (minus the middle free).

I use BA quite a bit within Europe, in fact today I am heading back to LHR from FRA and tomorrow it is LHR-OSL-LHR. I tend to use Avios or Avoid and pay rather than QF points, and fly Club Europe.

Club Europe is Y with a seat block but with a reasonable food and drink offering. (Not as good as VA/QF domestic J though.)

The benefit for me is lounge access, priority boarding, and check in.

Hi,
Many thanks all for taking the timeout to respond.
Has certainly given me a few things to think about.
I have actually come to realise that I am not finding cheaper options (flights or train) as I am travelling on the more expensive days of the week :-(
Oh well, I will have to book my trip back to Europe in October more carefully. :)

Again many thanks for the responses, much appreciated.

I am looking forward to this as I use BA for many flights into LHR. I cannot use QF points for upgrades.
