Thought I would share a quirk of the Asia Miles redemption rules that gave me a great result.
Was looking at BA redemptions in Europe for routes I needed to take on specific dates - with Club Europe available, so all good.
The routing required was DUS-LHR and return LHR-CDG. Was hoping to be able to use a Business Return (30,000pp), as the rules allow for open-jaw at origin or turnaround, but then read the rules more, and discovered that origin open jaw requires returning to the same country.
Was prepared to be booking 2 one ways, but rang via the call centre anyway (hoping that maybe the open jaw might be booked anyway).
What they quoted and booked was a one-way with a stop over in LHR. Because the total mileage is still under 600miles, the lowest one way band still applies, so ended up 20,000 miles pp.
When looking for open-jaw itineraries that you may normally just book as two separate one way tickets, it is worth looking at the total mileage and the redemption bands, as a single one-way with a stop over (which you need to book via the call centre), may save on points.
