I'm by no means a regular travel. I travel at most one international trip and three domestic trips a year. However, I have managed to amass a year's worth of hotel shower gels, shampoos and probably two or three years' worth of conditioners, body creams and facial soaps. That's because I still buy my Crabtree and Evelyn and L'Occitane from time to time.

So before I go travelling, I would go through my drawers and pick out the old amenities and take them with me, and would then replenish with new ones.

Does anyone else do that? I just want to feel normal!

I am very OCD when it comes to hotel products and pack them away on a daily basis to get full replenishment each day. I also hoard the airline ammenities kit and pj’s.

As the hoard grows and not normally using them, I end up giving them to homeless shelters.

Not only do we collect them all, the Gentleman often asks housekeeping for extras! Whilst may take them on subsequent trips, we use them all at home. I think we have enough shampoo, conditioner, body wash and moisturiser to last a year!

I have a huge drawer in my antique chest of drawers that I keep all my travel toiletries in. Separate sections for skincare, perfume, body care and haircare. I stock up when I visit my hairdresser and beauty counters and add stuff from a minority of the higher end hotel products.
Makes it very easy to pack for a short trip. On a longer trip with checked luggage I will bring the products I use on a daily basis at home.

Here you're normal. In the real world maybe we're not. ;)

I keep the bathroom amenities and won't have to buy any for many more years.
Quick trips are easy and my work locker is well stocked with necessities in a QF F Amenities kit.

I collect mine and hand them over to a friend who has an Air BnB!

The toothbrushes/paste I tend to keep for myself for local single night stays but Im now collecting/donating to Every Little Bit Helps ( Home ), they make small packs for shelters/organisations so someone can have a shower the the basics.

Which means I now ask for extras when we can.

I collect the soaps, toothbrushes/toothpaste and shaving kits. There is every chance there's 2-3 kgs worth in my luggage.

Every so often I take them out of luggage and they are used at home.

Collect, but never everything, they go in the bathroom draw and the little ones love using them. The draw if full to overflowing so onto the second draw at present. Then that one will overflow.......

Likewise, I'm taking a lot of unused stufff to Laos to give to a friend in Vientiane, he then finds appropriate ways of donating to those in need, which I can't in such a short space of time.

I’d say you are not alone on this. They are my go to pack when I travel for work. At one point, I ran out of storage spaces so I stop collecting them for a while. I restarted this exercise after reading about donating to shelters in another thread and any excess now goes to them.
