With the transition of US Airways across to OW early next year I'm curious to know how their lounge product compares to American and QF lounges. Is anyone able to provide feedback from personal experience?

US airways will cease to exist as a brand. Whether Doug Parker decides to move the US lounges to become Admirals clubs is anyones guess, but that's not likely to happen anytime soon IMHO.

No US lounge is great though really. They're all basic spirits and wines/beers complimentary (read: box wine and MGD/Bud, or Jim beam, Stolli, Beefeater etc). Food is all paid-for (exception of AA's Flagship lounges and some international first class lounges). UA's lounges are awful too.

Considering all US lounges are paid-for even for top tier elites (unless they're on an international itinerary), I wouldn't expect much out of US. Parker cut them to the core, so AA flyers are actually pretty concerned about what he'll do to AA now.

And that differs from access rules for Admirals Clubs how?

I think it doesn't.

It should be emphasised that there is no access to lounges for passengers on domestic First Class for AA and US (unless you have the relevant club memberships). The special trans-continental services, I believe, may be excluded from this.

I've only been in one US Airways Club at BOS in the early morning. Fairly basic. Basic but comfortable enough decor which was clean. Standard filtered coffee with sweetened creamer. A few continental snacks and a fruit basket. No showers (there are hardly any in lounges in the USA except at major international gateway lounges).

Reality is that lounges in the USA are pretty much like that, except the good ones at international gateways, and lounges owned and operated by airlines which are not based in the USA. And, Virgin America.

Here are a few pics of the BOS US Airways Club early in the morning:

Thanks! I was hoping they might be better than the AA Admirals Clubs. Even AA's Flagship Lounges are pretty ordinary in my view.

The snacks a slightly better than A/C's but other than that same same. (Oh, you don't get vouchers for 'premium' beverages.)

There are strong reports that US Airways will become part of oneworld (via AA's swallowing) in very early November this year. There is a dedicated thread that provides the quotes.
