Thanks for the confirmation.

For those who have signed up late and are copping the $150 fee for the Mastercard and $199 for the amex, has anyone noticed on the back of the amex letter it says $0 in the first year while the website says $199? I think this would be contestable with amex if they were to charge me an annual fee. Thoughts?

Why not? Wait to see if they charge you (normally shortly after first transaction) and take it up from there.

I have applied this card about 4-5 days ago and they approved it and got sms that your card on the way..

then Westpac guy called and you put some wrong information in the application and we declined the card.

I still got the Westpac card delivered to house.

Sounds like the first process was automated and your card was probably already on the way, although I suspect that it will not be able to be used. Did they elaborate on what detail was wrong? My best guess is it pertains to existing cards & limits held.

I put wrong saving figure .

Seems rather harsh to have your application rejected because of this. The savings figure I put down in my applications changes on a daily basis. So the figure I list could be accused of being 'wrong' in everyone of my applications because of the time delay between when I complete the application form and when they assess my application.

The only basis I could see them validly using this information to deny my application was if I deliberately exaggerated my savings to support my application. For example if my savings were $5000 but I listed $50000

When I went to apply for this Card last night, I noticed when logged in, that their was an online offer with no Annual Fee for the Amex Card.

The $250 Mastercard Fee is still payable although with the Home Loan Premier Advantage Package this is waived so a nice 120k QF points with no annual fee

Not sure if there’s a link available for non Westpac customers?

This is the link, however it directs you to a login page and the link is then broken.

Looks like it's only available to customers who have already logged in, then find the offer in Internet Banking.

You still have to pay the $50 Qantas Rewards fee for the MC.

Forgot about that, reasonable price either way for the bonus points.

Was interesting experience dealing with the overseas call centre, received call to confirm details then advised I was declined, well.. I was totally stunned & advised I only 2 months ago had a 20k Amex card for 4 years.

Requested review & called back today, spoke to another overseas lady to confirm same details, she was a little more understanding as an ex customer, advised there system didn’t recognised my previous account & then Congratulations you’re approved, at a significantly less credit limit....!

Glad to have 120k QF points on the way after spend.

*bump* Has anyone who held this "westpac" amex successfully received a subsequent amex sign up bonus? Best I could get from amex live chat is "If you only hold the westpac card with us and no personal card issued from amex website , then you will be eligible for bonus offer on qantas card".

If you mean signed up for the new Westpac Amex and got the points. Yes I got it twice (got it on a Black and a Plat) and once for the wife (Black). 60K of QFF points all up. These points all posted without any propblem

My points for new Westpac Plat CC however did not post though and I had to lodge a complaint with Westpac to get them. They tried to say that I was excluded as I had the Black already. But I had kept a screen shot of the offer including the terms stating the bonus points and WHERE THERE WAS NO EXCLUSION FOR ALREADY HOLDING CARD ETC, and so they after a phone discussion agreed to pay up.

Thanks for the reply, that sounds cool, in the above question I'm more referring to bonus points from a subsequent amex offer (such as the current 100k on Qantas ultimate amex).

I.e. it's been less than 18 months since I closed my Westpac amex and want to know if I'll be eligible for the amex amex bonus points.

Internet generally seems to think yes but cited examples are better than heresay.

I am also interested in this. As you say, consensus seems to be yes without any actual confirmation. Would you like to be the guinea pig? I would do it myself but I won’t be ready to apply until the new year. :p

I'll ask amex again and see if they can give me a more explicit yes, and if so, test it out. Do note the current QF ultimate offer ends early Oct though

Does anyone know if I will be eligible for the Qantas bonus points if I received Qantas bonus points from a St George Amplify Signature within the last 12 months (St George being a subsidiary of Westpac and all)?

My understanding is that as it's not specifically excluded in the T&C you should be fine. But if you're concerned call Westpac to ask and keep a reference number for the call.

In terms of credit card offers, I've never seen a linkage between St George and Westpac for exclusion periods.

Mine too. There's nothing in the T&Cs from what I can see (ctrl+f for "george" and "amplify" on each of the different PDF documents on the card product page) but thought I'd ask the question here in case.

Does applying for the Westpac Amex card affect the waiting/cooldown period on card offers directly by Amex?
