I've had the Visa/Amex combo for a week now, and held an existing Amex issued Amex. My online account for the Westpac Amex seems to think I can get the bonus points...

As a reference point I applied on Tuesday morning, was approved within two minutes and received the Amex card on Thursday. I get the same message in the Amex portal. (I also have the Amex Plat card.)

As another reference point, here's how the application went for me.

- Applied for the bundle on Monday 23/7. Was conditionally approved pending evidence of my income. I provided this straight away and was approved that same afternoon
- Received a call from Amex the next day, after a couple of ID checks my application was approved.
- The Mastercard was delivered to my local Westpac branch on Thursday, the staff there activated it for me and helped me set up my PIN
- The AMEX card was delivered to my home address on Friday

Very smooth process so far!

I applied and was conditionally approved. I provided payslips the next morning then hours later received a text message saying to check my email. The email said I need to provide payslips ...

Will resolve in branch.

I've was approved for both last week and interestingly enough my credit report only shows a single enquiry from Westpac and nothing from Amex. I thought they would both be doing a credit enquiry. Anyone else notice the same?

AMEX never did an enquiry for me on any of the cards I applied for with them.

So my, and many people's, concerns about two credit enquiries at the same time is not a valid concern then. That's good to see. You're right in saying that Amex didn't do any checks. They also did no check on my vanilla Amex a few years back by looking at my credit report.

My main concerns with this card has never been the potential two credit checks. My concern is that it will reset the 18 month waiting period for the normal AMEX cards.

I've not gone through all of the posts here but my experience was:

Applied on line Monday morning, received text and email that night at 18:30 saying approved. Thursday lunch time, local Westpac branch rang to say card had arrived and I picked up same. Got home and Amex was in the letterbox. Very quick indeed.

I also have a Qantas Discovery Amex card. My new Westpac Amex card says been a member since 2014 (when I got the QF Amex). Having the QF Discovery Amex does not exclude me from the Westpac Amex/Altitude MC 120k points sign up offer.

This one would be the most painless card offer I've signed up for.

Equifax, Experian, Dunn and Bradstreet or only some? Also don't forget the checks sometimes take a while to show up

I can’t yet comment on this card, but in the past Amex have always done credit checks for me.

Does anyone know what the process is to get the QF lounge passes? I assume they are digital now but wondering if they post once the minimum spend is hit or do you need to call to request?

Pretty sure you can ring up once you are set up - don't need to wait for min spend etc. I usually wait until just before I close a card to ring up and get them to maximise the 1 year window I have to use them :)

Not an issue for me as I already have the Explorer Gateway. My name concern therefore is that I am still eligible for the AMEX points - there is nothing in the T's & C's to preclude that (as opposed to the Mastercard which clearly states the 12 month Westpac exclusion period), so hopefully I'll get the full 120k points.

Check the T&C's, you have to register via a link to get your QF Club passes (on the website) and then make a purchase for a QF product e.g. flight or QF club renewal etc, then you can claim your 2 QF Club passes.

Hi guys,

I have a new Westpac Altitude Amex. I had this card months ago as well. The T&Cs don't specify you need to be outside an exclusion period and the 40k bonus point offer appears under available offer in the Amex Portal for my card. If anyone has experience with this, can you shed light on whether I am eligible or not?

If you've already got the card, very little reason not to try to get those bonus points! Especially if Amex seems to think you're eligible.

The promo that started 9 August does have a 12 month exclusion though:

"The bonus Altitude Points or Qantas Points will be added to your points balance within 12 weeks once you meet the eligible spend criteria. Existing Westpac customers who currently hold an Altitude Platinum or Altitude Black credit card, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer. Qantas Points earned during a statement cycle are added to your Qantas Points balance on a monthly basis."

I have that too BUT the yearly fee is not waved.

If it is in your account as an offer then yes you will clearly get the 40K, but if it is like my offer you will have to shell out the yearly fee as well.
