Hello,

I'm looking to book a flight to NZ soon and was thinking of using points to upgrade my seat to business class. I was wondering if I can upgrade a 'seat' flight to business or is this limited in some way? If so, what is the minimum seat type that can be upgraded?

Also, if I find that all the upgrades are taken, can I added baggage at a later date?

Thanks.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Trans Tasman can only upgrade using points from a Flexi fare.

I do not believe Premium Bid applies to Seat fares.

Seat fares on Trans Tasman can purchase one bag for $25 and another second bag for another $55.

Some of the conditions for upgrades may not have been updated since the recent Trans Tasman fare changes so maybe give the Velocity membership centre a call to clarify regarding upgrades.

As already mentioned, you can upgrade with points from a Flexi fare (only). The upgrade will be available if there is a business class reward seat available on your flight.

(Alternatively, just use points for business class outright.)
