hi all,

I have a pending upgrade request from J-F on QF2 for Sunday. I changed pins after the initial request was made.

According to AusBT and other articles I need the qf call centre to amend the pin on my pending request; however, I called the premium service line and they didn’t know what I was talking about.

Do I need QF to manually change the PIN in my request?

I've done the same so eager to know the answer. Seems stupid though that if you change your pin you somehow go to the back of the queue. What about if you change the pin back to what it was?

I previously asked about this in another forum. Apparently you do need to call Qf....the easiest solution is to change the PIN back to the one you had when you made the upgrade request
“16.1.12 Once a Classic Upgrade Reward has been requested, all PIN changes between the time a Classic Upgrade Reward is requested and the time the flight departs, must be advised to Qantas, otherwise the Classic Upgrade Reward request will not be processed.”
For PCI compliance reasons QF will be removing the need to update them with your PIN soon for upgrade requests as they were storing it in plain text in the PNR

Ok, that's what I've done. Hope it works although I'm not holding out hope of scoring the upgrade anyway.

Same thing happened to me last time, called QF, they said as long as i could see the upgrade request in my profile it would be fine. Eventually got upgraded with a new PIN. I think info in that AusBT article is out of date. Good luck.

In the "old" days, a change of PIN without notifying QFF would certainly stop an upgrade occurring.

QF still have this information on their web site: (Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions | Qantas)

16.1.12 Once a Classic Upgrade Reward has been requested, all PIN changes between the time a Classic Upgrade Reward is requested and the time the flight departs, must be advised to Qantas, otherwise the Classic Upgrade Reward request will not be processed.

After speaking to 3 (!) CSEs on different calls, finally got through to someone who seemed to understand my request. She says there’s no longer any need for them to input requests on their end. Hope she’s right.

Coming up to T-60 and hope to know around T-48 ...
Coincidentally, does anyone have any expert flyer info on loads for QF2 this Sunday the 16th?

Literally just got the confirmation at T-60. Nice! Thanks for your help everyone and this test case shows that changing pin is now not relevant to upgrade requests!

Also I suppose I can request the French stuff in the Qantas Heathrow Lounge instead of having to go to the Cathay F lounge to get it ...

In practice as a WP I find that's about as early as upgrades can get processed. Rather than the T-48 that they advertise as the time they'll start to process upgrades for WP.
