Looking at SFO-EWR in F and see they have flights on either a 777-200 or 757-200 (mainly the latter). Looking at all the different seat maps on Seatguru hurts my head. Which ones should I be looking at in this case? Does anyone have any experience on one of these transcon routes and can offer an opinion on the better F product. Will be an overnight flight so lie flat seats will be an important factor. Any general comments on what I can expect would also be appreciated.

Thanks :)

Flight #s and dates? Expertflyer will tell you what the config is, bearing in mind that they can be subbed at any stage. The 752s are configured with lie flats in 2-2, so they aren't going to be worse than the 772s, and may be better if the 772 is 2-4-2

Thanks for the quick reply!

Will be Fri 24 August. Looking at ether the 10:35pm departure on UA726 or the 11:55pm departure on UA1796

Assume that being transcon both of these options would give lounge access in SFO?

I think lounge access is okay on transcon

Remember that effectively the 757 is stretched 737 so that may have an impact on your thoughts. It certainly would for me.

Was probably leaning towards the 772 so this would probably confirm it in the event I do go on UA. The earlier arrival time in to EWR is probably preferable too.

This may be a stupid question but I really am totally unfamiliar with the situation but is there any chance the 772 gets refurbed by August as part of the Polaris roleout?

For UA bookings (most US airlines in fact) you can just go to the seat map on the booking page where it lists the flights - it lists the flight times, then 'details' then 'seats'. This brings up the specific seat map for the flight and indicates flat beds or not.
