I am 1000 points away from next status upgrade with Mileage plus, I am still waiting for some bonus points from making hotel bookings through the airlines, but I wonder if anyone knows how you can earn points in Aus?

Their partner credit card is the Chase C.C., but that isn't available to AU.
I had a look at the star alliance program, but I wonder if anyone can give me more direct answer.

Thanks

This is a bit tough as SPG points transfer badly to United miles (I think to make United's own credit card relatively better). One option is Rocketmiles for hotel bookings which give you 1000 min points per hotel booking and sometime heaps more. Yet to use it but planning on doing so as they have a 3000 mile bonus for the next one.

Another is milepoint premium is membership which has a 1000 point bonus offer

Not sure of time to post for either

a quick flight with Air NZ across the ditch will get you your Premier qualifying points if you're after status, just check the booking class

Just to emphasize, you need to be very careful with Air NZ. Many of their fares across the Tasman do not accrue FF miles, so it could be an expensive option. If you can score the required miles with a hotel stay in Australia, that would be the way to go.

Note I am lifetime Platinum with UA (flown over 2.5 million miles on UA metal, which is quite hard to do if you live in Australia).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Sir (or Madam) - you deserve a medal!
Or admission to a mental asylum. I flew UA 3 times this month (marking my 5th, 6th and 7th flights with them ever) and I'm never stepping foot on one of their flights again. 2 of my 7 were the 787 so that didn't count, but the other 5 were all terrible. I honestly felt like cattle being herded in to the cabin. That, as a *A Gold. I'll stick with AA even when down the back of the bus.

clifford certainly does deserve a medal ;)

The UA of 5 years ago is not the UA of today.

There's a thread from 2005 somewhere explaining the benefits that could be enjoyed with MP in contrast to the QFF program Erich underwent a major enhancement that year.

Buy a short cheap UA flight. Cheap will stop you sweating too much about this suggestion. Short will pull up the right number of miles, as outlined below.
once your reservation has ticketed - a few minutes to a couple of hours- go into your booking on UA & you'll see an offer to buy more redeemable miles. Usually an offer for double, & one for triple. The amount on offer is sort of based on the flight you have purchased. Click onto the offer that has the closest number to what you are after. Another offer will then pop us for the same number of PQMS - the ones that add to your status. Buy. The redeemable miles plus the PQMs will post almost immediately into your account. Once you see them there, you can cancel the original ticket. From the time you bought the original ticket, you have 24 hours to cancel without penalty.

This is a carryover from what used to be available on the CO site before the merger. Helps many people get over the line towards the end of the year. UA is happy because they have your money now.

Here is what U.A told me back in July 2013!
United credit card is not available to residents of Australia at this time.

Please click on the below link "list of credit card partners" for credit cards available to residents outside of USA.
MileagePlus® has several credit card partnerships that offer miles for purchases. You may view a list of credit card partners at united.com
